to Vandy after turning the Big Orange down at least twice..........OUCH..........Everyone makes better basketball hires that we do. I hope that this is a bad rumor, but it is flying around Nashville
After an 8-23 season at Minnesota - Vandy brass might think Richard Pitino is still a hot name
Minnesota is a cautionary example for programs who run off veteran and established coaches in search of the next great young thing. Tubby Smith won 20 games in 5 of his 6 seasons and made the NCAA tournament 3 times at Minnesota. In his last season in 2013, they made the 2nd round after beating UCLA by 20 points in the first round.
It will be a long time before the Gophers are back in the big dance...and they will probably be doing another coaching search again next March.
It's telling that your first sentence states this as a done deal and you then quickly transition into a negative comment about Tennessee...but then say it could possibly be a rumor.
It looks like you want them to make a good hire so you can be critical of Barnes/Tennessee.
wrong, I never want Vandy to succeed, or to make a good hire at an position. In fact when I needed some medical attention on my heart I chose a doctor at St Thomas instead of one at Vandy. Did not want my $100,000 in insurance money to go to Vanderbilt. That said I am not a CRB fan, thought it was a bad hire, I do hope he succeeds immensely and UT basketball becomes relevant

my doc was Harvard trained, Nashville has many viable choices other than Vanderbilt....I make a lot of poor choices, taking advice on Volnation would be one of them
I fortunately had time to speak with more than one DOCTOR before deciding a course of treatment. I was impressed and comfortable with the heart surgeon at St. Thomas, she was highly rated, respected and trained at Harvard with impressive residencies. The surgeon at Vanderbilt center for cardiac surgery was equally impressive and I certainly would have been OK with that selection.....On that day I decided to VUCK FANDY, so no volsportsfan, I am not joking but it wasn't because I chose inferior care, I chose not to support Vanderbilt University GO BIG ORANGE

Not going to one of the best medical care centers in the world because of a football team that shares an affiliation is possibly the dumbest thing I've seen here. I'd nominate it for epic post of the year honestly.
