not so much sad that he didnt come here since we weren't very much in it but I'm so happy he went to FSU and not FLA...Kid is a future 1st round pick that is just a flat out playmaker

Why? We have two future first round picks that play for us now.

Who on Florida's team do you think will be drafted in the first round after this year? Who do you think will be drafted in the first round when they finish playing at UF?

Should be fun.

No that won't be fun. They are loaded with players who will be drafted high. That secondary is the best in the nation. Haden, Jenkins, Black, Wright, Hill, Pierre-Louise. Nobody can match that man for man. Marsh and Stamper are beasts. Spikes is the best LB in the country. Dunlap is probably the best DE in the country...

On offense, the OL is sick. Patchan, Johnson, Gilbert, and the Pouncey's twins are some of the best you can find. Hernandez is a top 5 TE talent. I'm not so big on their WR's and RB's, but they fit that system perfectly. And then Tebow. Brantley would be starting at QB for any SEC team outside of UF, Ole Miss, and maybe Arkansas...

Carlos Dunlap, Brandon Spikes, and possibly Joe Haden depending upon what kind of year he has. As for the total of Gators I expect to see in the NFL? Depending on who chooses to leave and who stays, it'll look something like this.

1. Carlos Dunlap
2. Brandon Spikes
3. Joe Haden
4. Major Wright
5. Jermain Cunningham
6. Aaron Hernandez
7/8. The Pouncey Twins
9. Tim Tebow
10. Carl Johnson

Dustin Doe, Ryan Stamper, Ahmad Black, Marsh, and Sanders will find their way onto an NFL roster if they aren't drafted.

If the above group all choose to leave, they'll all get drafted or picked up. I don't know how high or low, but I know they get picked up.

I just saw that A Dubose just went out for the year for UF with season ending surgery. I am not sure what hopes they had for him this year, but that is not good for a young player. I hope he does well with the hamstring surgery.

He's been injured since he came into camp so it doesn't change much but it sucks.

These are the first rounders on D. Please Vader all of this Gators praise you are spewing is running me crazy. That secondary is good but I think we matchup athlete for athlete very well with them.

Joe Haden has a good chance of being a 1st round pick as well.

We have the best DB in the nation in Berry, but UF has better players at the other secondary positions as of now. Janzen Jackson will eventually be a stud at FS though.

I actually thought this list was realistic. I thought before that it would be one guy after another based on talent alone and not play.

Example is that Demetrice Morley had first round measurables, but an undrafted brain and character.

Joe Haden is the most overrated DB in the nation to me. There are better corners out there. Also the backups to Haden and Jenkins aren't exactly world beaters. Wright and Black are good but not great safeties. You guys and the media are really bothering me with this Florida secondary talk.

umm, Ahmad Black had 7 INTs last year and was tied with Eric Berry as the leading INT man in the country. Black is a top 5 safety imo...

How exactly is Haden overrated? He had 3 picks and 77 tackles last season, and is probably the strongest pound for pound player on our team. On top of that he's crazy athletic, and could play practically in position of the field that he wanted to.

If there are better corners out there, do you mind naming a few?

You don't know who are backups are, how are you in the position to judge their talent?

Major Wright had 57 tackles, and 4 picks last season one of those picks being a pick 6. Ahmad Blacks numbers only paled to Eric Berrys as Black finished the season with 54 tackles, and 7 picks, 2 of those picks being TD's. Our other safety, Will Hill is better than them both, he racked up 46 tackles and 2 picks as a true freshman. Eric Berry is hands down the best safety in the SEC, and Nation, but I think we have the best group of Safeties in the Nation.

You can't be upset about that, it's proven talent.

I have no problems with Will Hill. Also I said those two safeties were good players but your corners after Jenkins and Haden are not good. Also Haden was picked on in the SECCG. His pick in the Georgia game against AJ Green was some of the worst piece officiating I've seen. He's a good tackler but not a great cover corner.

Corners better than Haden:

Patrick Peterson(LSU)

Janoris Jenkins(Fla.)

Trevard Lindley (Ken.)

Walter Thurmond (Ore)

Perrish Cox (Okla. St.)

Brent Vinson (Tenn.) Potential and Homer Pick

But is that enough corners for you.

I thought this thread would be discussing reid. Anyways, I thought reid looked like a beast in the FSU vs Mia game. He was all over the place! Didn't play like a freshman, great get for the noles. I think he will continue to make noise in the future. We are good in the secondary, but reid would of been a great get. Oh well, can't get em all.

Post like this make me scratch my head. Having an opinion based around and supported by factual evidence is one thing, throwing things out for the sake of argument is another.

Haden wasn't picked on in the SECCG. John Parker Wilson had an astounding 187 passing yards, 124 of which went to Julio Jones. Haden didn't guard Jones, and 64 of of Jones 124 yards came from a single play.

Patrick Peterson... How exactly is a sophomore who hasn't done jack squat better than a preseason all American?

Janoris Jenkins is a better cover corner.

Trevard Lindley has comparable numbers, wouldn't say he was better though.

Wat exactly has Walter Thurman done that puts him over Haden?

Perish Coxx played for the 93rd ranked defense in the nation last season. A single good game against a not so good UGA team doesn't put him over Haden.

You might as well drop Brent Vinson.

Joe Haden is one of the top 5 corners in the nation.

Gotta agree with the Gator here. Haden is top 5 for sure. Lindley deserves to be in that conversation though certainly.

Sabo I know you've watched Florida and he needs help over the top more than any top-shelf corner that I've ever seen. For the Gator to think Cox isn't better than Haden is funny to me. I don't think Haden could follow Green all over the field like Cox. Also if Peterson was in a better system he'd be show the nation that he's the best corner.

All baseless statements.

Stats for corners are worthless unless you get some actual good ones (Stuff like how many times thrown at, passes defended, how many yards given up on each pass, ..etc). The tackles and INT thing just doesn't really cut it for them.

Nobody has those stats, so we go off of what we're given. Haden is a good corner, one of the best in the nation.

No one has them for NCAA, so you can't judge anything unless you've actually watched most of the top guys. By your logic, Asomugha would barely be worth a second look just on INTs and tackles.

Haden is great though, but guys like Peterson, Jenkins, and a few others are all a little bit better.

Which is all that's relevant to this discussion.

No, by my logic you have to have evidence supporting why you think a particular player is better than another. Simply saying "So and so is better" doesn't cut it.

How is Peterson better, he hasn't done anything?
