Griffith Saying On The Radio That...

No doubt, and I have no problems with that first sentence.

The problem is that too many use that exact line of thinking to justify their actions.
What "actions?" Most of what I see is people simply opining he flat can't play. It's not like they're outside his apartment with pitchforks and torches.

Nothing is free boss. When you move out of your parents house and step out in to the real world, you will realize this. Fear not.

You're correct.

Except the price RW is paying is playing BCS-level basketball.

What a terrible price.

Putting in the hours at Pratt Pavilion every week is a hell of a lot better than repaying student loans for the next 10 years of your life.

I've got no sympathy for any of the scholarship players. And I don't need somebody to tell me that his scholarship does not qualify as a free ride. Also, don't give me the classroom BS, all he has to do is show up, and then everything else is handed to him at the Thorton Center later that day.

As far as the rest of your personal attack in the post.

I would invite you to my place to have a beer. But my neighbors wouldn't know what to think with a car rolling into my subdivision without a muffler.

Better stop. He's from Swanee, where they overpay to play ball. Dude's apparently got enough coin to make ridiculous decisions like that.

You're right....and based on his play he should get his scholarship revoked. Just like the "real world", where if you don't deliver, you get shown the door.

I don't give players whose careers here are essentially done and will probably be playing at some Cal State Northridgesque program next year enough thought to fluctuate my mood much either way.

Man it would be a dream come true to see him transfer.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Are you "UT fans" serious? All everybody seems to do is bash our players.

Did you go to the game last night and watch Brian play? He busted his ass for us last night. This board is turning into a joke with all the negativity.

Agree. It is a shame.

I just can't even begin to describe the hatred I would have toward the UT program if we let a quality player such as Renaldo Woolridge just transfer away from our community. I mean, he definitely deserves to have free access to any corner of the University of Tennessee campus and free access to the awesome practice facility that 'ballers' dream of. If I was Renaldo Woolridge, I would wonder why the hell are fans saying that I can't play at a school that is paying its coach more than the coach who has his team in the top 5, coached Carmelo Anthony and has won a national championship. UT spent more money sending its coaches to recruit Woolridge than his scholarship is worth, yet they are expecting him to draw iron on atleast 50% of the shots he takes? That's a bit unreasonable isn't it? To expect a guy to make contact with the rim on half his shots?

Is it a little too much to ask a guy to come in and not advertise his kids bop lyrics and just go into the gym or go to a psychiatrist to improve his psyche? Players who are apart of a million dollar recruiting budget don't get their feelings hurt by message boards.

Where is this (available for the world to see) message board for sucky UPS truck stockers where I can trash him for his lack of effort? (which I of course will do anonymously).

If anyone really cared about UPS employees, there would be a forum to complain about them.

Bottom line is, Renaldo should suck it up and be thankful that playing the sport he loves gets him a college education.

Free? How much time per week do you think they commit to basketball? It would probably be more profitable getting a part time job.

So when you screwed up and blew your academic scholarship, you had handfuls of idiots trashing you on the internet for not being smart enough to maintain your gpa? I'd like to see that message board.

For the record, I did not "screw up and blow" my scholarship. I knew what was expected and graduated at the top of my class. I also realized the work it would take to maintain my GPA while studying for a double major and bypassed the luxuries a full-time job would have allowed me.

Point is: students on scholarship are provided an education with an expectation that they will contribute to the success of the University. That applies to both academics and athletics. It is absurd that athletes should be given a "pass" when they don't uphold their end of the deal. Air-mailing outside jumpers doesn't cut it when you are a tall guy expected to produce in the paint.

I can handle people criticizing play, what I don't understand are all the personal attacks. There's a big difference between a fan and a guy that hates a player as a person because he missed some 3s. This isn't pointing out anyone in particular, though it wouldn't be hard to look through some threads and make a list.

Is #0 very good right now? Not by a long shot. The personal attacks aren't warranted, though.

I agree. There is no reason to attack a player personally unless he pulls a Washington/Colquitt/Tyler Smith. However, why should it be so taboo that we criticize a basketball player for playing poor basketball?

There is nothing wrong w being critical of players, but half the fans on this site hate half the team.

If u care enough that u would want some kid to transfer, unless he is a criminal, your life is truly pathetic.

Have u always been so cynical? lighten up a little. Go to the beach, play some golf.

Going to grab 18 in today actually.

Thanks so much for your concern.

Wow, that explains why Woolridge is not successful. He has no mental toughness, which typically means he has no physical toughness as well.

So mental toughness and physical toughness are intextricably intertwined? Is this what you were intending to say?
