I agree. I'm not really saying they need to do anything. Just thinking if it did happen , would we pay the right amount to get the coach we want. You know they have the $.

Bobby Petrino will be the next UT coach IF Dooleys has a terrible year,and nobody will remember ,or even give a rats a$$ about his morals. It's about winning,and recruiting.

I think I'm so sick of not only the Dooley gets fired threads but twice as sick of the Gruden next HC?? threads. Congrats you hit the double whammy in one thread, this is only the 1,500 thread on this, which is never gonna happen.

Who? Jon Gruden was an above average (.540 career regular season percentage and .556 post season percentage) former NFL coach fired from his last coaching job in 2009. He has not coached since. Yes, one of his teams won a Super Bowl, but his teams only finished with .600 w/l percentage or better in 4 of his 11 NFL seasons. In 3 of 11 seasons, he had a losing w/l percentage. The Superbowl season and his 3 other 10+ win seasons stood out. In short, he had a basically solid NFL coaching career, a SuperBowl win in his first season at Tampa, but his teams never repeated the magic. He is an extremely good, smart, and telegenic NFL broadcast analyst who was once a graduate assistant for Johnny Majors and is married to a pretty east Tennessee girl. Both definite pluses.

More importantly, he has never been more than a position coach at the college level and has been out of the college game since 1991. He may or may not be able and willing to make the transition back to the college game. I'm sure Monte Kiffin will agree that can be a huge, daunting transition to make after being away from the college game for a long period of time.

Several on Volnation believe he is an automatic, born-to-win future UT head coach. He has pluses, but I do not believe he represents guaranteed success. I also suspect he has grown to enjoy the easy life, is comfortable with being a really good broadcaster, and has little interest in coaching again. But maybe not.

gruden gets millions for working a few hours on tv 1 day each week during the season. UT would have to offer huge money to get him away from that easy gig.

I heard that Former Heritage High School coach Tommy Rewis was the for sure next head coach at the University of Tennessee. Some guy in Alabama said it on the radio.

Bobby P's mistress was engaged and was going to get married soon before this got out, also found out today that she had been moved a week before to work under Bobby P and that was the biggest reason the university had to let him go because she worked under him.

He will never stoop down to the college level IMO. Besides, as much as I HATE Dooley, I think he gets it done this year. All a moot point.
