Rucker said that if Gruden is a no-go, Strong is 2nd in line. Per his Memphis Radio segment.

This is incorrect. He said Strong would be in the top 5 but didn't say 2nd in line. This implies Strong is the #2 target and Rucker never said it.

Mike Garafolo- 11/20/12 USA Today

In reference to the potential replacements for Andy Reid in Philadelphia:

John Gruden- Many think the ESPN analyst is destined for a college job instead of heading back to NFL coaching.

Nice to be here.

i promise you that that gruden's decision is not even remotley all about money.

It is about the place he and his family want to be, and getting the assurences he will get the resources needed to win at the school he is selecting.

Arky could offer 2m more a year imo and he will still go to tn as long as we deliver everything else he wants.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - An offer has reportedly been made for a new head coach at the University of Arkansas.
Jim Harris, THV 11's affiliate sports reporter, says the university has offered Jon Gruden the head coach position for the Razorbacks football team.
Gruden is currently with ESPN and serves as an analyst for Monday Night Football.
Harris doesn't expect Gruden to take the offer, putting the odds at "one in 10 or even one in 20." He said Gruden may have shown a slight bit of interest and that "Arkansas is swinging for the fences and making an offer."

Longtime ArkansasSports360 editor and former Arkansas beat writer Jim Harris also tweeted as much late Monday: "My sources say Arkansas has made an offer to ESPN pro analyst Jon Gruden."

11/20, From the Basilio blog today:

I don't know why but Jack's call at the conclusion of my show yesterday was very impactful on me. Jack was an older sounding gentleman who called in and stated matter of factly that this 'search for the next coach' is a 'ruse'.

Here's the call.
Jack: 'Good day Tony. You've been on fire today Tony. I'll be brief.'

Tony: Thanks.

Jack: 'I've known this guy since the 1st grade. He's a very influential member of the boosters and athletic board and everything else. So, this isn't second hand or something heard on the radio. The coach has already been selected. And....The contract's done....It's over. Now it's just a matter of timing.'

Jack continues: 'Now, I've heard all this talk about the athletic director. The athletic director has had absolutely NOTHING to do with it. He wasn't involved. I know who was. And he wasn't. They kept him totally out of the loop. (It was like) We'll tell you when we get him. And they've told him. And they've got him! It's timing. So, this talk about the athletic director is a complete waste of time. He's not involved.'

Tony: So you think yesterday (Dave Hart press conference) was a total farce then wasn't it?

Jack: 'It was a total farce. Particularly if you're in the loop. I mean this isn't some people's first rodeo. Dave Hart has to do his job the best he can. But if you think they are going to trust a guy who's been there for 13 months to hire a football coach at Tennessee? I mean there is NO WAY.'

Jack: 'I did business with a major booster at the University of Alabama, he was in Knoxville. Now, this was after Saban was hired and he said to me let me tell you how this went down. Three guys...and you would know all three names....they went to Saban and they went to the Athletics Director and he said "well I've offered the job to Rodriquez out of West Virginia" and two days later Rodriquez said I changed my mind. They (the power guys) told the Athletics Director and the President at Alabama "if you don't change this, all of you are fired." That's the way things go down.

Jack Continues: 'He (Dave Hart) will do what 4 or 5 people tell him to do or he will lose his job. And that's the way things go down. They've already made the call (on the next coach).

Tony: 'Do you believe it's Jon Gruden?'

Jack: 'I didn't ask names. I didn't want to know because I didn't want to compromise my friends trust. It doesn't matter if it's Jon Gruden or James X. It will be a fine name who is a proven coach who's won. Everybody just sit tight and relax. It's gonna happen and it's gonna happen soon.'

Brent Hubbs said that Peyton Manning and Jon Gruden have been in discussions "with a little more then Spider 3 Banana talked about."
Also said that Grudens staff if he were to come to UT would have an orange tint to it.

Idk but that is pretty big stuff

11/20, 11ish and I'm not sure how it hasn't made it in here yet, but:

Hey Jay....hope you are feeling better.

A little birdy just told me Nov. 30. I checked it with my guy and he agrees. Hope they are right.....the publicity that wed get around the championship game would be phenominal for recruiting. Seems to fit the original timeline too.

It's coming.

OCI in the recruiting forum in reference to Gruden rumors:

I'm not the leader. I didn't believe it until I received information that gave me no alternative but to change my tune. No other names are being mentioned because this has been done for a while. I can confirm that Gruden, Graham, Pittman, R. Morris, and Bisaccia will be coaching at UT next year.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- As we face a transition in our football program, I want to make it clear that we support a mission of comprehensive excellence in our athletics department. Under the leadership of Vice Chancellor and Athletics Director Dave Hart, we will do the things required to return our team to national prominence. As we begin our search for a new coach, I have assured Dave that he will have the support and resources he needs to be successful.

For the next three years, the money the athletics department has contributed to the campus will be reinvested in the athletics department. Relieving athletics of this commitment will allow the department to add an average of $6 million per year to its bottom line for a total of $18 million over three years.

The money was committed under different circumstances and we now need to allow athletics to use these dollars to attain financial stability and invest in the future.

Most of this money has been used for scholarships and fellowships. We will continue to honor these commitments, primarily through private gifts. Let me emphasize, we will not reduce our commitment to students.

I know that winning championships and competing at the highest level lifts the national profile of the University of Tennessee. As chancellor, I am committed to winning both on the field and in the classroom.

BOOM!

@RonHiggins

Arkansas wants Gruden, but some of my UT sources are saying the Vols have supposedly countered with obscene amount of money for 8-yr deal.

Hogs supposedly offered Gruden today and he said, "Nope." UT private donors have put money for an offer that is mind-blowing

i realize this is late and old news to the grudenites, but like a new friend on here said....new confirmation is always good!!

So, i got extremely solid confirmation today from a source that is literally attached (by name) to a very important building on campus. Historical actually. I'll leave source id at that.

He confirmed to me going back to last tuesday that the mou was signed and the 5 big boosters rallied to make it happen...and completely validated peyton mannings role as well.

I'm not bringing this in an attempt to gain anything other than adding solid validation to the list of informants on here that we all trust (well, most of us lol). I'm not really one to pressure my sources because i am a business man myself and i don't like people bugging me. I try to treat people the way i want to be treated.

Having said that.....boom!!!
