Hogs supposedly offered Gruden today and he said, "Nope." UT private donors have put money for an offer that is mind-blowing

CBS Sports Brando retweeted this info. Yes, the Same Brando that was laughing at the thought of Gruden to UT earlier.

I was tempted yesterday to raise it just due to all the chatter yesterday. I checked with a dozen different people this morning and none feel it is happening. saying it could, but none of them see it happening.

I'll raise it to 10% just to recognize those keeping the hopes alive.

tennessee did not want it to appear that they were doing anything regarding the coaching search "pre-dooley firing". All of the media outlets getting info from the ad are getting info that makes it seem as if the search has just began...when we all know conversations under the table have been going on for at least a month.

Neither tennessee or gruden want it to seem that dooley was forced out just because gruden was a possibility.

This is once again why i don't believe november 30th is the date, i think that is too soon. Too much time before gruden is done with mnf and too close to when dooley was let go.

If it is gruden i think december 10th or 17th weeks are more likely.

ok here is an email sent to me from my stepfather, which was forwarded to him, whom i believe is lwsvol, i could be wrong on this though, but i've omitted the name of the sender of the message. I will say that his first name is larry, and his middle name starts with a w and last name starts with an s...so it adds up to me. I also believe this is the same person i got my info from (through my stepdad) concerning hamilton resigning several months before it was announced. So here's the email...

Have you heard anything about tennessee's coaching search that has surprised you? Please be as specific as possible.

Not a ton. Certainly there's been no dismissal of the gruden rumors. Hart is in the office. He's not flying around the country that i'm aware of. And he's certainly trying to do it as a committee of one.

I'm not sure what you are fishing for. But i don't believe anything is close to being done at this point as it's really just getting started. 11/20 1:43 pm

i know you have said there would be a tennessee flavor to gruden's staff quite a bit.

1. Who could be included in that mix? Chavis, steele, tee, graham, jones?

2. Is that a staff that would be good at developing talent as well as recruiting?

3. Do you feel there would be a tennessee flavor to anyone else's staff that tennessee may go after?

I don't know who all. I wouldn't think chavis. But there are a ton of rumors out there with martin, zook, steele, etc, etc. We are told that martin and gruden haven't spoken to each other. I still can't find the tie to tee and gruden. Not sure how they know each other.

I can't imagine that gruden would assemble a suspect staff. I would think he would assemble a high quality staff with a really good reputation.

the university brass feel like the story in the kns was wrong or misleading today. Cheek was not ready to announce last night what the plan was, but he didn't suggest that there wasn't a plan.

This is a very important step for the athletics department. It's not the total solution but this was a must and goes with what a board of trustees member told me a couple of weeks ago that cheek was developing a better understanding of athletics. 11/20 5:51 pm

it seems to me that patterson would be a great hire with the success he has had at tcu. His record is outstanding, but he doesn't seem to be a topic of much conversation.

You have said that hart needs to hire the "next doug dickey." patterson is reported to have told hamilton he "just wanted to coach football." is this one of the strikes against patterson? Does this make him a poor fit for this job at this time?

It could even be as simple as a press release, with a presser at later date. I believe the desire is to leverage the publicity surrounding the SECCG as well as get the name out prior to the dead period in regards to recruiting.

tb just stated that his contact states that lamonte did sign the mou regarding gruden.

lamonte is Gruden's Agent

Sorry, don't mean to misrepresent so I'll clarify. TB has been goin against the grain...today. However, he took a text over the phone stating that his source just said that it wasn't Gruden that signed the MOU...but it was LaMonte. Having said that, he then went on to justify his stance by saying "see, it's not Gruden. He didn't sign anything. It was his agent."

At that point, it was a silly argument for him because his agent has to be a "power of attorney" or the equivalent of...to bind Gruden to agreements with his blessing. My attorney does that for me all the time.

Earlier i was textin with one hand because I had my daughter in the other...so I couldn't be very descriptive and thorough.

just had an awesome visit from a good friend from out of town. He is the ad of a d1 school in the north and has strong tennessee ties. He confirmed the ad is on complete info lockdown, and most likely only hart, cheek, and a certain attorney know the inside scoop but based on everything he has heard elsewhere he is 90%+ that it is going to become reality.

He said "i wouldn't trust anything coming from the ad right now, those guys are guessing at names, nothing more. Money is making this happen, not the strength of the ad". Made me feel pretty good!

Clarification for those that think above is contradictory:

A D on Lockdown meaning Hart will not be sharing info with anyone including those working in the AD.

Not to trust anything coming out of the AD: meaning those working in and close to the AD: ie Skeeter, LWSVOL, and others.

Hope this helps.

Info came from money people and people , not the AD. That's the point, I see what you mean and maybe I didn't say it best. Not contradictory.

Hart's hands are tied. He has no say in this hire. Do you think the money at UT will allow the future of the football team, which is the life blood of the University, to be left in the hands of a man who has been on the job less than a year? The reason he said that no hiring firm would be used is because the money men have their target. Patterson, Gundy, and even Fisher will not be the key to reviving this program. It has to be a MAJOR hire such as Gruden, Johnson, Cowher etc. Why you think 18 mil was all of a sudden given to the AD? It's to sure up the hire. You don't need 18 mil for Gundy, Golden or any other non-impact hires. This is Big Boy football.

skeet if what i heard today is correct, and it is straight from the source, then it is very good for finalizing gruden.

I know we know some of the same people, i bet i know you if you are in the ad. None of the people in the ad i know have said anything more than you have personally or otherwise. I think hart is doing this right, or being forced to. Not sure which it is.

we have heard things, just not from the right people. I dont think hart is being forced into anything, he is very smart and very aware of the fragile state on the football program.

skeeter are you hearing anything? Gruden or otherwise? No specifics just curious.

we have been told hart plans on seeking permission from ucla on the 25th to contact mora. He also has interest in strong. He wants a coach in place by mid december if at all possible. Like ive said, hart is very smart and cagey, maybe back up plans in case something falls through if indeed a deal is in place with gruden.
