Guess Who, Guess Where?

Call it what you will, it illuminates an important point.

Not so much, because Phil is an alum. But with Hamilton's short but great hiring record, both him and Delmonico should feel the warmth on the ass. I again say, no SEC title in '07, plan your retirement Phil.

If UT lets Pearl get away from them, to a program of similar stature, then you need new leadership. If they can't see the asset they have in him right now, they don't deserve to keep him.

See Donovan rumors and UK. I guess the same can be said about UF.

I may not not be crazy about Hamilton, but he'd have to be incredible stupid to let Pearl get away from him.

I'm not saying hes going. I'm saying you all got a great coach. And reading these replies just shows how much he can be appreciated. Iowa would love to have him. As for the Thomas incident, he did the right thing. Since then though, we have a new AD. Not the same guy that ran him out of Iowa. Also he had a huge fan base in Iowa. Still does. While he was being criticized for doing what was right by many, it wasn't the fans criticizing. I see him saying no for two reasons. One, his son. And two, the sec is a much stronger conference than the big 10, I hate saying that, but it is the truth. Money wont be an issue, Iowa has plenty of it to pay out. They do have Alford's $2 million buyout to play with when they hire a new coach.

Maybe you do, but you use them up on your football head coach.

Don't forget that Steve Alford just left Iowa for New Mexico because Iowa is not now and never will be a basketball school. Obviously no SEC school with the exception of Kentucky will be a basketball-first school.

athletically, vandy is a nothing first school.

Not when you consider fan support and actual team success. The team has has appeared in the sweet 16 a couple of times recently and averages 12,000 per game, which ranks 24th. The football team averages something like 35,000 per home game, which ranks 67th, and their crowning moment was beating the Vols in '05 to finsh 5-6.

pearl isn't going anywhere. with as much dedication as he has put into this program thus far, i would be VERY surprised if he left.

Hope you're right. BP has got this program at K-town going in the right direction. Hope that after all he has done the last two years they tear up the current contract and renegotiate a new 5 years with a good increase. He deserves it.:eek:k:

Fair enough.

But yes, they have no athletic dept, and who knows how they pay their coaches. I know they are private so they are not required to release how much they pay them, so there's no tellin'. And they refuse to commit to facility upgrades for anything except baseball.

I'm not worried about Michigan now. Why would you leave what you have here for a fan base that appears to go into hibernation after football season.

In the past, I couldn't get UT on TV up here (a short distance away unless they played some marque SEC game or UK....NOW THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pearl is staying, get used to all these people coming in in the offseason to tell us how Pearl is their new coach. I would venture to say that they are all a tab bit dumb.

Mike Hamilton could kill two birds with one stone here. Give Pearl the 2.5 million a year and in return big Phil gets jealous and quits.
