they are wanting outlaw "SAWs" - poor choice of phrase by the liberals, of course. for the uninitiated a SAW is a fully automatic belt fed gun that is already controlled. yet another reason why people who have no clue shouldn't be crafting these bills.

now when they use "SAW" they mean semi automatic "assault weapons", what does "assault weapon" mean in this context? anything that is semi-automatic. So not only are they misusing a common term, they are now also being redundantly redundant. again this is why they shouldn't be allowed to craft the bills.

of course they are adding the term "assault weapon" to sell it, even though in the context they are using it they are just out right banning any semi automatic weapon. they just know they can't sell that to most of America so they are being hyperbolic and trusting that most Americans know as little about guns as they do.

While there is absolutely no dearth of politicians that couldn't fill a gnat's thimble with their firearm knowledge trying to sell an agenda to a large swath of the population with an equal dearth of comprehension on the subject don't fall for the idea it's all based on stupid. No small amount of those running the show know exactly what they're doing. Basically the father of the "assault weapon" terminology in how it's currently used had this to say:

"the weapons' menacing looks, coupled with the public's confusion over fully automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons—anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun—can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons."

So yes there is certainly dumb selling to the ignorant/gullible but there's also those that are well aware and targeting those same people.

May have said this before, but pictures of the dead perpetrators should be published as widespread as possible. With a caption along the lines of this is what a piece of dead meat looks like. Side of the head missing or part of the face? Even better and show it. I think that it might have potential as a deterrence to dumbasses thinking or planning something.

They did it in the Old West.

Maybe instead of the police, the U.S. can start organizing MAGA gun crazies
into Old West posses, complete with horses, to track down criminals, so they can truly scratch that sheriff wannabe itch they have.
