Lol. You are wrong on almost literally, if not literally everything. You cannot own an operable tank, which I clearly stated. You also cannot own an operable cannon, or a military style machine gun, like an M60, nor can you own any weapon deemed manufactured for warfare. Now, a semi automatic assault rifle is the question here, which most (over 65%) of the nation feels should be classified as such since it serves that purpose well but is not needed for any other purpose that a handgun, hunting rifle or shotgun does not already fill. The assault rifle is uniquely suited for killing lots of things very quickly, like kids quite often.
Right now, anybody can buy one of these weapons at a trade show with no background check. Does that sound like a good policy to anyone? Should 18 year old kids who cannot even legally drink be allowed to buy these weapons with almost no background check? Is that a sound policy? We are trying to discuss reasonable and sensible laws to make this country safer, seems to me everybody would be on board with that.

You can legally own a tank. You Can Purchase a Fully Functional Army Tank Online Because This Is America
You can legally own a cannon. Americans Can Still Buy Cannon | National Review
You can buy full automatic weapons like the M60, you just need a tax stamp. NFA Tax Stamps Explained | NFA Tax Stamp 2021 - FFL License
There is no gun show loop hole. Go to any gun show and you will see people filling out 4473s even if paying cash.
Wait wait wait. You really think gun shows are powered by collectors looking to sell off their private stash without BGC?It is the facility of the sale in question here of course. The facility is given to congregate these weapons in one place for the convenience of a buyer who btw often wishes to purchase a weapon of choice without having to go through a dealer and a background check. It’s not every private house you can go to and pick up an assault rifle, the gun show loophole facilitates by bringing these weapons to a central “sales point” without the need for background checks.
You are conflating two different things. Can Joe citizen walk into a gun shop and just plunk down the money and stroll out with a legally owned machine gun? No...but can a person go through the process of obtaining one? Absolutely. I recently handled (and was shown how to operate the belt loader for) a full auto M1919 Browning.
Also.
Granted I dont go to as many gun shows as some people, expensive, but I have never once seen anyone selling without requiring a 4473. And i have stuck around for a couple hours waiting on people who did buy guns wait for theirs to come back.he can't comprehend

I do wonder what happens if the FBI is slow in those cases. Maybe some local FFL holds it?

Like someone is going to pay 200-2000 bucks to get a table at a gun show, sell off a couple sawed off shotguns for cheap, and then call it a day?
I really really need to visit one of these gun shows you think exist.
Did those private sellers remember to take off their ATF hat, or hide their badge?I've seen individuals walking around shows trying to sell a piece or two but don't recall ever seeing a "private collector" set up with a booth/table selling.
It's been a few years but there was a bill introduced that would have eliminated the fabled "gun show loophole". It would have taken the requirement for the serial number off the 4473 so that gun shows could run BGCs on people entering, Dems killed it.
They sell racks of assault rifles…..literally racks.Wait wait wait. You really think gun shows are powered by collectors looking to sell off their private stash without BGC?

I already stated earlier in this thread that the research is bunk and the article is hyperbole. They accomplish way more bi-partisan things than you realize, the parties leadership work hand in hand in keeping their seats and stuffing their pockets. What we see is what they want us to see to keep us divided and voting them back into office.

You just hit on the biggest reason why nobody should take the idea of a "Second U.S.Civil War within years" serious.
If we were discussing Civil War within a few generations, some of the amusing hyperbolic ruminations in this thread might hit closer.
A second reason any notion of Civil War within years is absurd.
I've read reports over the years that Pentagon and NSA/FBI/CIA research indicates virtual 0% willingness from our military to carry out armed conflict against against other military personnel or civilians on US soil.
Basically, they posit the soldiers would refuse to carry our orders.....

You need to back away from the communist news network before it stunts your growthWe probably don't want to hang on to everything this country was founded on, just saying.
Have you paid any attention to the insanity that is being proposed in red states? They are absolutely becoming more draconian, radical, and bigoted. North Carolina has a bill floating around that will charge a woman that receives an abortion with a crime punishable by death. Look at the laws coming out of Florida; university students have to declare their political beliefs to the state. Then you have the "don't say gay" bill, which has already resulted in people being reprimanded and removed because they had a picture with their partner on their desk.
I don't give a **** what Biden's position was about anything 20 years ago. I care about today, and the Republican party is swinging wildly to the regressive and radical. To think otherwise is burying your head in the sand.
You don’t want to pay higher taxes either…. Damn extremist youDamn near the entire Democratic Party is extremist now. And in all seriousness what is an extremist anyway? There are some things like more gun regulations and bans that I would never compromise on, does that make me an extremist or the ones pushing the 2A end-a-round?
Been watching TikTok live again? We probably don't want to hang on to everything this country was founded on, just saying.

Well, I mean a GOP state rep candidate in Florida got booted off of Twitter today because he openly said he will plan to allow anyone to shoot FBI, ATF, IRS, and other government agents on sight.MSNBC’s Cross: ‘I Would Say a Civil War Is Here’
Thursday on MSNBC’s “The ReidOut,” network host Tiffany Cross warned that “a civil war is here” amid violent rhetoric regarding the FBI.
Cross suggested it was time to start “preparing for actual violence” because two people tried “to declare war with FBI field offices.”
“You have millions of people tuning into a propaganda network every night,” Cross outlined. “And then, as if that were not bad enough, that’s an extremist network itself, you have these fringe pop-up outlets from OAN to Newsmax, then you have the social media component. That train has left the station. There is no let’s deal with the rhetoric. At this point, I do think we have to have serious conversations around preparing for actual violence.”

You’re just spewing Biden quotes without realizing how wrong he is. This guy lives in Colorado. Obviously owns a tank, fully automatic weapons and cannons. You can own anything you can afford. They only made it harder to acquire such things through permit. You cannot own an operable tank, which I clearly stated.
