i think it has become obvious that tennessee has found its man.

butch jones has accomplished every reasonable goal already this season.

1. he is recruiting well.

2. going to neyland stadium and getting a win isn't a piece of cake anymore.

3. the team is now consistently improving with each game.

the final fig leaf will be to see their ability to play well on the road.

but, all signs point to tennessee having found their man. it really was nice to see a level of pure joy that the tennessee players and fans showed.

i am jealous watching the vols improve every week while my gators have entered into the blocking is optional portion of the schedule.

i can't emphasize enough how impressive the improvement in several phases has become, but the special teams improvement is really something special.

To this point we have been blessed with very few critical injuries --- in our rear view mirror is the year we lost Justin Hunter and Tyler Bray early and unfortunately both Florida and Georgia has gotten a taste of that this season.

It is probably not really fair to judge either staffs ability under the circumstances. Your backup qb is a good athlete but it didn't take other teams long to understand - move up the dbs - contract the field this guy is not going to beat us with the deep ball. Your receivers weren't a great deep threat to begin with so you are very, very one dimensional. If I am not mistaken - your coach turned us down - a double blessing imo.

Finally - you are correct - FSU will beat you to a bloody pulp.

from everything i can make out, muschamp has one more year.

that's what i have heard.

but, here's the reality. florida's pocketbook is going to get hit something fierce.

the worst thing you can say about any sports team is that they are bad and boring.

many people struggled to watch this team even with a win. to watch this team and lose.....people will only pay to watch this for so long.

i have a double whammy. i have to watch this and the jaguars.

picked a hell of a year to quit sniffing glue

When the $ starts staying at home it gets harder to stay idle. As long as the support is there it buys some time.
I don't see them making a move either after this year unless they totally imploded and his team lays down on him.
For him it's a tough spot. Bringing in a new OC in a year where you have to make some hay is nerve racking and a gamble. He may be forced to try it, risk or not.

Thanks, Gator99! I am happy for us too!:)

I will have to agree BeecherVol on this one. Muschamp is excellent at recruiting players on the defensive side of the ball but the offensive side of the ball is a different story. Defense wins championships but said team must have enough offense to get on the score board and win games. Sure you score a defensive TD but those can only go so far.:twocents:

I believe we might have beaten the Gators if Worley had started. IMO, that is the only decision that I know of that I questioned what the coaching staff has done.

i may be dead wrong, but i don't think the qb or the receivers are the problem.

they are painfully predictable and they can't block anyone.

they are getting beaten so badly on blocks that they can't even hold.

the joke among gators is that the defensive backs hold better than the offensive lineman and get called for it more often.

Mad, we have a place in NSB. Yearly the mouth breathers bring their gold chains, jean shorts, gold ear piercings, leather faced wives, and mandals to the beach for the annual alumni outing. It's a sight for sore eyes indeed. I've never seen so much denim on the beach at any given time.

They aren't very friendly.

Hey, I love me some NSB. I've been going there every year since 83. Saw the place grow.

Murphy can be pretty good given his physical ability. UFs WRs are average (not typical for UF).They need a RB and the OL is rough right now. Couple that with an OC that can't seem to manage the situation well and it's a mess.

Back to UT 99.

They have progressed the way you want to see a first year staff improve a team. UT still needs 2 more classes to get back in the top third in the conference. I want to see what he can do with comparable talent against the elite teams. So far he has proven he can take what he has and make it better. You want to see that first.

The Gators better do something to fix their offense fast. Florida may be a mecca for recruiting but FSU is back on top and Miami seems to be on the rise (assuming the NCAA doesn't burn them tomorrow). Florida seems to have enough in state talent to support 2 elite teams. I don't know if there is enough for three. UF could be on the outside looking in if it's not careful.

It doesn't look like Muschamp is ever going to get a good offense there. That's your problem.

Thanks for the post!

Tennessee is doing all you can ask.

They are getting the most out of what they have got and are playing hard.

They need more horses and they need depth.

But, you get the feeling this staff will get them there.

I don't know how long it will take to have the "ideal" lineup, but in two years they shouldn't have roster issues if jones continues to recruit how he is so far

This can't be said enough. The past 4 or 5 years of special teams play was pathetic. It is so nice to not dread field goal attempts and to know we can cover the opponents punt/kick off returner.

i always told people that when there were good things to say, i would say them.

well butch jones and this 2013 team are giving people positive things to say.

i think you'll notice this from all sorts of things that have supposedly "hated tennessee" over the years.

tennessee is giving the media, or anyone else, something good to say.

Appreciate the kind words! What is the climate like for your coach at home? Anyone putting heat on him?

99, that really means a lot coming from you. I hope to see the gators rebound quickly... ok not really.

Do you think UCF will be able to make some headway with some of the top level FL talent now that they're having some success?
