Harbaugh tops Saban

I guess my point is, if he wins a title and you then say, "Okay, Nash, NOW you're right," then I will have been right from the beginning, because nothing about him as a coach will have changed.

Also, I assume part of the difference in salary is based on when he was hired (though I know Saban and Meyer have gotten raises). With an elite coach, I'm paying whatever it takes to get them. Hell, I'd pay Gruden 10 million without blinking. Partially because it isn't my money, but still :)

Well, no. Harbaugh is going to have to win more than one national championship to be worth as much as Saban or Meyer, and to be ranked at their elite level.

So far, he's just another very good coach in the college ranks. So far, you're wrong.

p.s. I don't disagree with you about salary. I'm sure Michigan paid no more than they felt they had to, to land him. From a supply and demand perspective, it makes sense. But now that the decision is made, it will have to be proven correct. And at $9M/year, only multiple championships will prove the wisdom of that decision.

Is Butch ever going to get any credit for what he has done at Tennessee?

He does. I like Butch.

I think it's funny how JP claims Harbaugh is so overpaid yet Butch is paid more than a multitude of coaches that have won P5 conference titles. When I've asked him about that he won't answer the question.

This is silly. Harbaugh has already paid off on the investment. They are #2 and the excitement is through the roof. Michigan had made more money since he got there than they gave him.

Michigan spent the money and is poised to compete for a national title.

Some schools settle for a process on the cheap.

Is Jp ever gonna admit Jones is overpaid/overrated?

I don't know where your brain is, ZJC. This thread isn't about Butch Jones. It's about Jim Harbaugh and how overpaid he is. Butch isn't anywhere in that discussion.

It's called deflecting. And the only proper response to it is to stay on topic and ignore the misdirection.

So why would I respond to you when you try to change the subject?

Saban lost to LA-Monroe...

Forgot about that one. Of course in context of what coaches both Saban and Harbaugh had to follow, Saban had the much worse situation.

Harbaugh is not on Sabans level at this point. Nowhere even close at this point.

Alabama was coming off 3 straight bowl appearances prior to Saban taking over. Harbaugh inherited a 5 win team and immediately won 10 games in year one. Saban won 6 in year 1.
