Harper’s future

All she had to do was be better than Holly. It could be said, Holly passed a better program to Kellie in regards to roster and incoming players.
IMO that needs a caveat that Kellie was not better in on court results, nor in roster building. Which of course are primary objectives. But it's really unfair to ignore what Kellie did to restore the culture that Holly left at an absolute shameful program low point. Now we just have to find someone who can do both.

So you still maintain that Harper "did nothing" and got paid millions "for no results."

(Insert Jennifer Lawrence gif).

Don’t disagree on doing both. The team still had fights, players were still suspended and one got a DUI in season. The culture stance of improvement is questionable.

12-37

$183,000 for each win in her buyout or $59,500 in her losses in her buyout. I wouldn’t say “did nothing”.

Well, of course. After all, she did "nothing" for five years. Evidently, though, the "no results" charge was incorrect; it's just that all the suits were bad.

"Good gig if you can get it.'

Sarcasm my friend. No need to attack.
I was not attacking you, simply just stating a point. The point of my post was in response to another post calling many folks dumb and need for them to look past Knoxville. As I referenced the AD, I put my faith and trust in his decision more than a single/everyone one of us in this forum. Afterall, look at what the decision in football has done for us compared to where it was.

All I know is, IF IT WERE AN EFFING GAZILLION DOLLARS A YEAR BEING PAID TO TYLER, that's still not enough to repay all his mother did for UT, for the state of Tennessee, for women in general and for the Unites States government who, amidst the crisis of 9-11, once sought her guidance when it was desperate for wise counsel. And of course Pat came through for her country!
Makes me want to paint my chest orange and add a white Power T!

No, SHE is HER OWN undoing. She was the head coach. If he was getting in the way, it was her responsiblity to reign him in.

When love is involved, it's just not that simple. Kelly was in a tough situation. Ultimately; career wise, HE was her undoing. Had She hooked up with someone else, things could/would have gone differently. You cannot do your best job under duress, or Distracted.

Then this 100% validates DW's decision because that means that Kellie was an ineffective coach who not only couldn't separate her work and professional life, but purposefully decided to co-mingle them by making her husband her assistant coach. And yes, the buck still stops with Kellie because she was the draw for UT Athletics, not Jon.

True, but posts above demonstrate that there are still some frequent complainers singling out Kellie by name and discounting her entire time as LV HC as being worthless. That's as bad as those who disparaged everything Holly did as coach and overlook any of her successes. And then imply that these women who have given so much to the program in various ways were just taking money and not trying to do their best.

They even drag it into the "Appreciation" thread. And they'll likely be regurgitating it throughout the future.

Not a good look.
There are happy fans who believe the old regime was excellent and regret its passing, there are fans like me who think they were fairly good, but not all that we hoped for. There are some who are very pleased at the change.

And then there are the churlish malcontents. They enjoy regurgitating bile. Strange creatures.

The vitriol is really hard to understand.

I realize that this board will be highly focused on who is hired to replace Harper. Whoever it is, I hope it works out better for all involved.

Nevertheless I am curious to know folks opinions on where Kellie might end up at. Mid-major, another P4 school?

Her teams finished either third (four times) or fourth (once) in the vaunted 14 team SEC, not to mention 2 SS's. That means she would likely be an upgrade at most P5 schools, just not the elite programs.

She’ll take this year away and recharge and take a mid-level P5 next year.

The job she did at Tennessee is much higher valued in coaching circles than it is among Tennessee fans.

You (and others) just can't let it go. The AD is making a change, Harper is gone, but haters can't stop saying that she "did nothing" and got paid for "no results." And you seconded those thoughts.

Continue with the grave dancing and brick throwing, but save a little energy for the next firing.

Some people just can't ever be satisfied even after getting exactly what they wished for.
Well, the UTAD did skip the whole tar and feathering thing....
