Harris may go pro?

But you said practice is what they need.

No doubt there are positives either way they go. Big difference in practicing to play vs being there at practice so that others will be ready to play.

Yes, see: Daniel Orton

What am I supposed to be seeing? Orton is $1 million richer, plus whatever endorsements he has, than he would have been had he stayed in Lexington. He will have the opportunity for a job for next year as well, something that probably, but not certainly, would have been available had he stayed in school.

Orton seems to have made a good decision.

EDIT: the mistake, if there was one, was made by the Magic, not Orton.

I've heard that argument a lot in Buckeye country about guys like Oden, Conley, and now Sullinger. Seems to be code for: 'I hope the guys pass up on the next level to carry my favorite team for another year.'
That's exactly what it is.

Actually, as a first round pick, he automatically has the job again next season.

A player not being ready for the NBA does not prevent an NBA team from drafting them in the first round. They look a lot at potential. A first rounder does not have to come into the league and star immediately, especially if they are not one of the first few picks.

Cant take algebra before you learn how to add and subtract. The more you practice basic math, the better you will be at it. I think it's sort of the same thing.

Actually, if you have any talent at all, it doesn't take a full year of "practice" to get you ready for the next math course.

A college freshman with some math ability should only be steered toward pre-calculus if his high-school math skills are pretty seriously deficient. Otherwise, better to stick him on into the calculus class. He'll learn the algebra better as he goes (calculus is full of algebra practice, and the higher-level teachers "get it" better in general), and he'll be more challenged and less bored.

Jodie Meeks went in the second round, and Hopson isn't any better than he was. Only thing that gets Scotty into the first round is a bad draft class.

Ludicrous. Hopson is drastically longer and about 43 times more athletic.

I was agreeing that Hopson and Harris should go and could go in first round because teams will draft on potential. Was agreeing with that. We are saying same thing. Wasn't taking a shot at Orton

I'll go with the easy guess.

If Pearl is fired, Hopson and Harris go pro.

If Pearl isn't fired, Hopson and Harris stay.

Harris has already matched Tennessee's season record for double doubles as a freshman and the season isn't even over. If he's already on par with Chism as a senior, there is no reason to stick around for a new coach.

I see. Misunderstood your point.

1. Completely different players. Hopson is simply a better NBA prospect than Meeks, IMO.

2. Doesn't matter why a guy goes in the first round, only that he does.

3. Jodie Meeks is making millions of dollars, so I don't understand what your point is anyway.
