As for the discussion on Gibbs, I seem to recall several years ago that "athletic" dorms were banned. As such, athletes were dispersed throughout campus and general population students were allowed to move into Gibbs. Is that not still the case?

Athletic dorms have been banned. Gibbs used to be 49% athletes and 51% tutors. I don't know what the numbers are now, but general population is allowed in there, but the cost is more, as is the cost of the meal plan.

I don't think it's that easy with the athlete/student thing that has to exist in Gibbs. I would assume it would need to be done in conjunction with Univ money.

Dorms suck. People pay 500 a month to live in one and a meal plan that sucks. You could easily rent a house or apartment for that kind of money and still be relatively close to campus. Who wants to share a bathroom with 3 other dudes and a 10x12 space with another guy, with single mattresses. Dorms are for wankers.

Lived in Hess last year, and I think it's the best dorm on campus. Location, weight room, grocery store, book store. I liked it.

Damn. The millions of dollars that were poured into shrinking our football stadium could have been put to much better use it appears. Imagine that.

The stadium didn't get smaller they just reduced capacity.

That still pisses me off. Everyone else was adding capacity, while we subtracted.

UT was never going to catch Michigan or Penn State so it really doesn't matter...however I hate the way the West Upper Level looks on TV.

Baffles me how anyone in the unniversity thought the athletic program would survive by subtracting revenue out. Failed coaching was not the only thing failing the football program. I am right there with you goat!

Glad to see Hart recognizing and correcting.

Let's see, they moved a lot of "grandfathered" season ticket holders out of the West Upper Deck to sell those seats for mega bucks. It's the addition of funds by the subtraction of seats.

The more I learn the more I have come to realize that Hammy was an absolute grease fire.

He was great when it came to funding our facilities. Update to Neyland and TBA, new basketball training facility, addition to football practice, new softball stadium, update to baseball, soccer, tennis, swimming....now that I think about it...I think every sport had a new facility built or something added on

Hate to say it, but the more Hart speaks, the more I think we should fire this fool and Cheeks, and start over with people that are attached to the University that want to see progress in all things attached to UT.

I for one saw the hiring of both Cheeks and Hart as a major set back to the University. Also, Hart was just about basically ran out of FSU and that's from people in the know from FSU.

But $100 million just isn't enough. We need $200 million to beat Vanderbilt and Mississippi State.

Open up the checkbooks.

This.

The Athletic Department has been practically stealing from fans for long enough, charging high prices and giving us a s#!% product in return. If they want more money, they need to win something first.

I agree Hart and Cheek are terrible at their respective jobs. The problem also is with the administration that keeps hiring the the wrong people.

I survived Hess as well, and so did my oldest son (if that tells you anything), at least for a year. I will agree that the dorms at UT are old, but most of them have actually been renovated in recent years. If you want to see old dorms, go to Auburn. Both of my sons are now at AU (my apologies folks, but out of state tuition was killing me) and I was shocked at how few dorm rooms they have on campus. They recently built a new complex that's pretty nice, but the cost to live there is almost double that of any other dorm. Of course, my boys are living off campus in a mobile home. That's all you need to know about Auburn. The first thing you see when you drive on campus is a farm with cows. Add to that the fact more students live off campus in trailer parks than live on campus in dorms. Talk about a cow college.

And yet they consistently out recruit UT for the last # of years. $$$$
