Hart

He did not have to name a coach. What I would like to have heard was the confidence that we will be able to attract and hire a coach in the near future, that the job is a great job and that we should not have any trouble with hiring a top flight coach. I would like to have heard about the positives of UT football, not the negatives that we have at UT such as finances and academics and other "unnamed" problems that we may have. It was much like hearing the difference in the leadership of Ronald Reagan who gave hope for the future, rather than floating out the excuses that Hart and Cheek had talked about and were going to address. I am not anti-Hart, in fact I will be cheering from the sidelines. I just was not as enamored with the presser as most.

He said all that. Again, you really should watch the press conference.

After listening to him in the presser, I'm afraid we have an incompetent AD. Was not at ALL impressed. He left me with little hope. Kind of like a Dooley clone.

I got the exact opposite feeling from the press conference. Were you just trying to start a thread? He was honest and candid. He was also very respectful and professional with regards to Dooley. Yup, I think you just wanted to start a thread.

He in fact did name the positives about UT.

Also, did it ever occur to you that he may be trying to put political pressure on Jimmy Cheek and others on the academic side by making those comments with regards to our challenges?

And to satisfy the conspiracy theorist in me, it could be sending code to Gruden that we are trying to give him the control he was worried about (if you believe the rumors). :dance2:

Just heard some great UT news from a close friend. I take everything back I've said about Hart. I'm really excited about the future of the program.

I think Hart was throwing down the gauntlet to Cheek, the faculty senate and any other pencilnecks up there who want to stick thier thumbs in the AD's pie. All part of the administrative clean up that Doug Matthews has been advocating.

I think my first impression of Hart was better than the last. It has played out much like what I heard at the presser, not a clue what was going to happen, and no plan in place to attract a coach, just problems we would have to overcome. The good news of a pending good hire alas was blown by Hart and the bottom seems to keep falling out from under us.
