I, like a lot of us, was thoroughly unimpressed at the JH hire by DW. Thought it was lazy and unimaginative, just a new AD rehiring his old HC. Then I started to actually look into Heupel and his offenses and gained some cautious optimism. But wow…who could’ve foreseen the home run hits that both those hires have turned out to be? We’re blessed to have them on Rocky Top and I couldn’t be more psyched for the present and future of UT athletics.

He has done a great job and set a really high bar for himself in 2022 and I'm waiting to see if he will be doing any better than that this year!

Exceeded, obliterated, demolished, rewrote, the exceeded the rewrite. He came into a very similar situation as Butch Jones; storied program decimated by a very subpar coach. Unlike Butch, Coach Josh Heupel built a culture not around catch phrases, but around accountability. The results are obvious. Comparison is not even possible.

Voted exceeded, because while I thought he would do well, given the state of the program when he arrived I thought it would take much longer to get to where we are.

He has vastly exceeded my expectations. After chick Fil gump left, I highly doubt ANYONE thought Heupel would have destroyed LSU in the road, be 2-2 against Bama (one win over Saban), be 2-2 against UF and have us ranked in the top 10 multiple times.
Not to mention he had us ranked #1, albeit briefly, in his second season here with a still depleted roster.

I predicted, on this board, we would finish in the top 15 no later than year three and be a contender every year after that. So much so I and another poster made a $100 bet. He did it in year two. That poster has since ghosted my attempts to collect from him for nearly two years.

I was as wrong about him as I was right about Dooley, Butch, and Cornbread. I was as Nega as could be from 2010 until Heupel.

I think anyone that says they expected this level of success this quickly is lying.

He has exceeded every expectation I could have imagined for him when he was hired. We are BLESSED to have him here at UT. He will bring us National Championships before he is done. Book it.

Exceeded them easily. We were awful when he came in and its been an absolute turn around in the right direction since he came on campus. I bought in to Heup in the first Pitt game. The way the team came out fired up and played until the very end, even in a loss, was something we had not seen in a hot minute. He's continued to impress. He's had a few not so great moments with some bad losses but every head coach has them.

Better. I was very jaded from a string of coaching hires picked from mid major schools. I wasn’t crazy about the hire initially and I’m glad to have been proven wrong.
