So far he has met my expectations. However there cannot be a coach or a program he cannot beat. UGA and Kirby he has yet to handle. I'm seeing a decent chance that changes this weekend.

Has gotten us back to the expectation that 9 wins is an OK season. 9 Wins was party time for prior orange-colored glasses trifecta of VOL coaches.

Anything other than exceeded expectations is wrong. Did anyone have us beating Florida and Alabama 2x each over a 3 year period and an Orange Bowl win over Clemson whenever he first took the job, especially considering the results of the previous decade+? Yeah didn’t think so. Anyone voting otherwise can be considered an unreasonable person.

So far I'd say he's exceeded my expectations. He obviously is a high floor coach, meaning he's always going to get you 8-9 wins at worst. The question is how high is his ceiling? Is he going to become the "Rick Barnes" of football where you're always in the hunt and in the mix for a title...but that's all you ever are? Or will he break through and become the next Dabo?

My expectations for a program have been met, if not succeeded due to the garbage heap it was with the investigation.
Heupel himself has exceeded it because I didn't really have much faith in the hire to begin with.

I hope he is Rick Barnes. That means Heupel will win a good couple of SEC championships. We should be so lucky

It's time for the annual well-being check on our fans. How do you think UT has performed under Heupel to this point? I think he's exceeded expectations, regardless of what happens this weekend.

Heupel and his staff have recruited very well and have developed the Pruitt leftovers.

I think most fans have this perspective. However it will be interesting to see if most everyone feels the same 3 or 4 years from now (assuming he doesn't leave).

It's hard to compare the two sports and f Heupel can make the playoffs most years, that's all you can ask.

I know what you're saying. But look at Penn State's fanbase. All Franklin does is win 10 games every year, yet there's a sizeable portion of that fanbase that's ready to move on from him! Look at Georiga with Mark Richt. He won 10 games every year too. It'll be interesting to see how long our fanbase will be content with 8,9,10 wins a year without winning a natty or an SEC Championship.

Coach Heupel is a good coach that's also still learning. Maybe next year they can get through the season without a loss were they should have won . There isn't another coach I would trade him for except maybe that Curt Cignetti at Indiana .

Like any large fan base, ours has its share of dumbasses. All you have to do is read this forum AFTER a win. "Bad play calling" is one of the most recognizable signs

I meant to put exceeded my expectations, and instead put met my expectations.

However, I thought he was a good hire to begin with.

definitely exceeding expectations.

thought he could get us to consistent bowl game, 8-4 type seasons. I thought the offense would be good enough to get a win every season we shouldn't, but otherwise get figured out. Figured recruiting would really only be decent for the offense.

He has greatly exceeded expectations. And that's not even taking into consideration I thought he was a desperation hire because of the timing and the looming NCAA issues. I fully expected someone to limp through a few years before having to start another coaching search after year three or four.
