Having Sufficiently Gloated, Some Serious Thoughts.

I mentioned this in another thread, so I feel ok posting again. People speaking for Tennessee's interests have contacted the representatives of at least three coaches to gauge their interest. If Tennessee gets any of the three, the program won't miss a beat.

I'm sure you've answered this before, but I have no clue which of the dozens of threads in which I'd find it.

Of the 3 coaches you know of, would they all be able to keep in tact what already exists, or do you expect them to start from scratch this summer, including recruiting?

Nevermind. He's Mormon. He has his dream job. Not sure who else it could be that would be a distinct possibility playing on Thursday.

Yeah, he kicked a player off the team for having consensual sex with his girlfriend. I don't think he could handle the debauchery that is UT athletics.

Doesn't sound right. I'm guessing he means two guys who aren't in the tourney at this point.

Grant? Turgeon? Kruger? Donnie Jones?

I don't want to try and break down his comment, but he'd have said 3 days if he didn't want to specify "after they've lost in the Sweet 16"

If you want to challenge Hat, fine, just do so with logical arguements.

For every Texas, there is an Indiana, an Arkansas, and a Tennessee. That is the reality of the situation we're in right now. And we don't have anyone near as capable as DeLoss Dodds in the Athletic Department making this hire right now. To sit there and play off Texas as if it were the only example is the height of fantasist thinking and grounded in anything but logic.

You may not like the comments. But I've been around Tennessee basketball long enough to know that nothing is ever as easy or as ideal as the folks who have long been wanting Pearl axed would have us believe. I saw these opinions before when Green was the coach. I thought the same thing after we fired Devoe. We got men who we thought were everything Green and Devoe weren't...and we didn't win a thing.

The firing is logical and justified. The ham-fisted and tortured operation leading up to it should itself be enough to fire the man who ran it. We'll be back. But it will not be as easy as OP or you folks think it will be.

NCAAT...forgot about the other one(s), actually.

(the men's NCAAT, to be clear)

So, to make it clear, if Hat is right Grant and Jones would not be two of his names, as they're still playing.

My guesses just got narrowed down to Kruger and Turgeon...I'm sure there's someone obvious I'm not thinking of, though.

Hamilton has privately indicated that it wasn't to create a firestorm. Wednesday night in Charlotte, Hamilton apologized to the basketball staff at a dinner that was previously planned with the coaching staff and administrators.

Whatever the reason for Hamilton's comments, they were ill-timed, ill-warranted and have created more than a firestorm.
They've created a mess.

Unless he was sending a message thatt he job was going to be open. Maybe he was wanting to start contacting potential replacements and needed for them to know that the job was going to be open?

That's a solid guess.
