Whats sad is we even have threads like this....saying we will beat vandy and kentucky used to be the same as saying the titanic sank!

We have a history of making back-ups and bad teams look really good. I hope that Butch can halt that history and get us in the habit of putting these games away.

Failure is not an option next two weeks. There are no excuses worth a damn. Winning is the only acceptable option. The entire remainder of the decade literally hangs in the balance.

Nothing but victory is acceptable. Nothing. I like Butch, but his tenure could be defined if he does anything other than win

Wow, it is 2013 and the Vandy game controls our success for the rest of the decade. That game should draw world wide press. Glad I got a ticket to see the most important game of the remaining decade.

have a pretty significant winning record coming off bye weeks like 11-4 or something like that?:)

I don't recall anyone saying Vandy will beat us b/c they beat Ga and Fla (just saying this makes me think I"m in a parallel universe or something...), but what some of us did say is that we can't overlook them because someone posted that we may be doing so.

Plenty of people on here try and use the transitive property. Also plenty of people have said Vandy will beat us badly because Auburn killed us. For some reason people seem to think Vandy is on the same level as Auburn.

It has been a long...trying...sometimes triumphant...and sometimes embarrassing year for Team 117.

Given a schedule that featured, what...7 ranked teams?...Butch Jones could not have had a tougher opening slate.

Team 117 has shown a lot of character, and also that UT Football has a long ways to go.

So...it does come down to Vandy and UK. The final verdict on the 2013 season will hinge upon what they do in 2 games that they can...and should...win.

Win, and we'll all remember Team 117. "Where it all started."

Lose, and we just start looking ahead to Team 118.

Go Vols.

I've seen a lot of posts that lend to the idea that Vandy can win the game. Which is straight truth. I must have missed the ones that thought Vandy runs UT out of the stadium.

No excuse not to beat Vandy. They don't have our talent, and what few decent players they have are banged up.

We are playing at home with a bye week to get healthy.

It's time for us to do we have done almost every game for 50 years, and that's beat little brother down into the ground.

Coming back from the Dooley fiasco means taking it one step at a time, and here's another one - so let's beat the in-state rival and keep our bowl hopes alive!!!

GO VOLS!!!!!!!

I have seen this quote "we have more talent" many times on the message board but I have yet for someone to explain where this much more talent is.

I believe both teams are about equally talented on both sides:

QB - Even, though I would say Robbinette and Dobbs are about equal but would take a healthy ACS over Worley all day long. ACS did not look mobile today and KY stacked the box because they knew he could not run. If he can't run this weekend, then I would go with Robinette because of his ability to tuck and UT's inability to cover at the linebacker position.

RB- Advantage UT
.
WR - No contest, especially if Krause is back

TE- even, both teams have done a sad job of recruiting tight ends for this class. The one VU signee JUCO was the one that caused this years current mess.

O-Line - Advantage UT. Not as good as everyone expected but better than Vandys

K - Toss Up, both Palardy and Spears are top in SEC

P- Advantage UT, Palardy has been $ and Vanderbilt misses Richard Kent of last year

DL- Advantage Vanderbilt - Young and aggressive, have wreaked HAVOC the last 2 weeks.

LBackers - EVEN - Both teams have serviceable LB with Vanderbilt injured on that front and starting youth

Secondary - Vanderbilt. All Seniors that are starting to gel at end of year.

Coaching - Advantage Vanderbilt. Franklin gets his guys up and even though the KY game was a trap game, the team found a way to win.

Intangibles - Advantage UT. The bye week is huge and the home field crowd with a chance to go to a bowl will be a lot to overcome.

Great game to be at...

Would like feedback because to me these teams are very comparable.

UT will be up for this one too. dont act like Franklin is the only one.

you will also be without Marshall in your secondary and Azubike at DL. Who knows how Krause's hamstring will react

outside of Matthews i dont see any threats. we arent great but we matchup well with vandy. Vandy would have gotten hammered by Bama, Oregon, and Auburn just like we did. VU seems to really struggle running the ball. even though we arent very good along the DL your O Line has given up a ton of sacks and qb pressures all year

Vandy looked so bad today it wouldn't surprise me to see Robinette starting against us. I had a great time laughing as they struggled with KY.

Vandy is plenty good enough to beat UT again and the wins over UGA and UF give them plenty of confidence to do it.

The bye and it being at home is big for UT. Hopefully for the orange it's enough.

So you believe the talent level is similar as I did not get a reasoning why UT is superior in talent. Javon will be back, Azubukie, looked like an ankle. Will need him back.

C'mon. Vandy is so full of 4* and 5* talent. And we are so slow. We even have a walk-on playing nickel back. No way we beat Vandy
You should be taken out side...strung up in the air like a piñata....and then smacked with metal pipes by large roid raging body builders until you pop for that post!

I promise you...you'll see a much more determined effort from Vandy next week. We will be their bowl game because so much rides on this game for them (us too for that matter). It'll take our absolute best effort to beat them. Book it!
