HBO's True Detective

I think Maggie and her father are involved. Maybe her Dad is in the cult, involved/molested her at a young age. Being brainwashed and damaged, she introduces her daughter at a young age. Cohle shows Marty pictures of his daughters.

I'mbeginning to think Maggie might be involved as well...

What's deeper than that if you don't care to speculate?

Sorry, I've been busy at work and had no time to get on this forum.

I think there are supernatural elements that are involved beyond what is already being portrayed. I think everyone who is looking deep into this are doing a great job and I personally think they are correct to some degree, however, I think HBO always does an excellent job to go to the next level with their network shows, so speculation is all we got for now.

Only the people that work on the show truly knows what is going to happen, which makes it that much more fun to watch and speculate what we think is going to happen. I think the only way to go beyond what most would guess would be to introduce a supernatural element that could be beyond comprehension.

With everyone talking about the Yellow King, being brought to the edge of insanity (or reaching it) and the already introduced glimpses of otherworldly behavior (the birds creating the swirl image) I think it is safe to say there will be an element to this story that is not fully unfolded.

I can't wait until Rust and Marty have their beer. I think we'll get to see a glimpse of the next level!

:peace2:

I don't think the show is heading towards a supernatural ending like some do, but rather the cosmic fear being hinted at with all the lovecraftian references is the insanity one acquires when they see the truth behind the veil, when they see the reality of the world is more horrible than any monster you can imagine.

That the Turtle school program was created to locate at risk young children to abduct and abuse for the people in power, the people that we put in power and trust to protect and serve us. The government leaders, the church leaders, the police higher ups. They use a cocktail of drugs to control their victims, which explains the Meth lab.

This in my opinion would be a far more visceral and frightening organization than simply a cult of crazies abusing children for the sake if their religion.

I hate to say it, but this sounds just like Jerry Sandusky and Penn State.

Nice catch I hadn't put that together before. That's definitely a possibility, though meth alone isn't a hallucinogen. It's a very Green Arrow comic book type villain(Brother Blood). He'd drug people with a hallucinogenic and then put a scary mask on and they'd freak out by what they saw. That would explain why some mentioned the "green eared spaghetti monster".

"The world is a veil and the face you wear is not your own."

I'm so pumped for tonight's episode.

Totally screwed us out of like six whole minutes. :p

Rust is finally ready to kill himself. He just wants to do this one good thing first.

Me either. There is always something else but maybe that's what they want us to think. Also I hope somehow the finale is two hours.

I honestly don't expect there to be some massive twist that turns everything on its head like you seem to be insinuating. And I'm sure it will still be an amazing finale anyway.

if the damn dude mowing the grass is supposed to be the head guy over all this stuff then the show will go from my all time top 3 to out of the top 10.

I do think all those caskets around the grass he was cutting are victims though.

Think about the stuff that's still been touched on without resolution though.

Hart's daughter with the toys in "rape" position.

"Death is not the end"

Picture of Cohle at crime scenes.

...... and that's just off the top of my head. No way. There's still more to this.

He isn't the "head guy" IMO, he's just one of the more brutal family members participating in the atrocities. Sam Tuttle grew his own family cult by having tons of children and instilling a sense of blind loyalty into them.

it's too deep and intricate to be run by a lawnmower man. Would totally be abusing Cohle and Martin if it was as simple as the lawnkeeper all the while affecting their lives so much over a decade.

He seems to be more than just a lawnkeeper. Bad guys cut grass too.

I certainly did't mean to imply we have all the answers right now and the finale is just going to be Rust and Marty finding Carcosa and busting up the place and catching the killers. But I don't think there's going to be some random revelation that hasn't been built up or foreshadowed the entire time.

The writer isn't trying to trick us.

sorry hobo. Maybe I'll just post quotes from the show in this thread. That takes talent and deep thought
