Cry harder. The title of this board is “Around the NCAA.”
What coach didn’t have a legendary player on their championship winning team? Meyer at UF had Tebow, Chizik had Newton, Orgeron had Burrow, Dabo had Watson and Lawrence, etc. I guess you could go with some of Saban’s teams, but the ones without an elite QB had heisman winning RB’s or NFL level defenses. Also, the only coach to ever win a national championship at Georgia, the "legendary" Vince Dooley, was a decidedly average coach who had a few decent/good seasons and one magical season with a transcendent freshman running back.
Dooley won 6 SEC titles, has the 4th most wins in SEC history and a career winning % of 72%. I doubt he would be a forgotten coach in any circles around the South. Your disdain for UGA or over tinted orange glasses for us, blinds you from objectiveness.1998 Tennessee. Great players, but no Herschel Walkers on the team. Take away Walker, and uga never wins a 1980 NC and Dooley is a forgotten coach.

His resume is Fulmer’s, except he won’t 3x the SEC championships and won them at a higher clip. He doesn’t have a special place in my heart, I’m just not so emotionally fragile that I can’t admit he had a great career.I spoke too soon. Clearly, even absent the NC, he would hold a special place in your heart, at least!!

Dooley had four non winning seasons and several more that almost were...Fulmer had two...At the VERY end of his tenure...For which he was fired...He never came close to a .500 record in any season that wasn't a losing one.His resume is Fulmer’s, except he won’t 3x the SEC championships and won them at a higher clip. Yeah Dooley had 1 losing season and 3 .500 seasons, he also coached 8 more years than Fulmer and Fulmer was trending the wrong way.Dooley had four non winning seasons and several more that almost were...Fulmer had two...At the VERY end of his tenure...For which he was fired...He never came close to a .500 record in any season that wasn't a losing one.

I don’t live in GA but carry on. I could be in any number of Athens; Ohio, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, California, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Texas, Illinois, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, West Virginia…and I’m not going to list the other half.Lighten up, Francis. I even included cute little emoticons to show I was joking. Geez......you Vols living in GA are high strung.
