Heated exchange between Nick Saban and Paul Finebaum

P.F. has made a lot of $$ by pushing peoples buttons. Agree with BearCat - Saban has enough spine to do what he thinks is best, and not react to someone else who feels different.

Not giving a **** what the media thinks and handling his business the way he thinks he should and what he thinks is right. Why suspend the guy just for the sake of appeasing the media and talking heads?

I’ll admit I’m biased when it comes to Saban. I think he’s a blow hard POS. No media member has the balls to really challenge him. Finebaum didn’t do that IMO. He started to and then Saban basically told him, “I do what I want, shut the **** up, end of discussion”, and Finebaum slinked away with his tail between his legs. I guess I can understand his stance in the sense that they weren’t charged but I think its BS that they weren’t charged.

-The gun was stolen and purchased illegally
-They had drugs in the car
-The DA said he didn't prosecute because they were football players

There are similarities between this and the Jeffery Simmons mess at MSU and Dan Mullen is getting raked over the coals while Saban gets a pass from the spineless media. I wonder if Finebaum would have even brought it up had the mic not been left on when they were going to break earlier and accidently aired them talking about Saban owning the media?

I agree, but if I'm in Saban's shoes I don't suspend someone who wasn't charged with something, just to make the rest of the country happy.

I'm with Saban on this, who gives a $$$$ what anyone thinks about the way he handled this situation. The charges were dropped and that's really it. Did he do something stupid YES!! I think the kids got off pretty easy but the law and the courts are there for a reason.

Why then is Cam doing community service in relation to the events in Louisiana? Tells me the cop that busted him screwed the pooch on the arrest and/or evidence gathering.

I can see both arguments, BC's and STH's. It's the community service that make me lean just 1% towards a 1 game suspension.

I applaud CNS for standing up to the media, supporting his player, and shutting down the conversation.

You honestly dont't think they got off because they're football players?

"I want to emphasize once again that the main reason I'm doing this is that I refuse to ruin the lives of two young men who have spent their adolescence and teenage years, working and sweating, while we were all in the air conditioning," district attorney Jerry Jones

Translation: The boosters check cleared so you young men are free to go...

One thing is for certain: in the privacy of their offices, several of Saban's assistant coaches are raising beer bottles to the heavens each night after work, thanking the gods of football for the incompetence of one particular Louisiana cop. Their lads should be facing jail time...but won't even miss the USC game.

I'm not a huge CNS fan and I'm not condoning any wrong doing by the players. I do respect what he has accomplished as a head coach. I love how he handled PF. Too many decisions are made in this country due to public opinion and/or media pressure. More people need to stand up for what's right instead of what's politically correct. Kudos to CNS.

I get Saban's heat with the media. That, I don't have a problem with.

Him glossing over the gun in the car and mentioning Louisiana's gun laws was interesting to say the least.

That can't possibly be an actual quote from a DA, can it? Please tell me no.

So I guess for some of you Saban is the lesser of two evils when Finebaum is the greater. It's likely Butch would have suspended them until he got to the bottom of it. So many of you favor Saban's handling of the situation over the way Butch would have handled it? Interesting.

You think Butch would suspend them even after charges were dropped?

Saban also lashed out against a reporter who dared to question why he accepted Jonathan Taylor as a transfer from Georgia after he had been charged with an assault. The SEC has since implemented a rule against allowing transfers who have pending domestic assault charges against them. His solution is to bully and intimidate the media into dropping the subject. Some people on this forum seem equally whipped. It's kind of pathetic. I don't care how many championships Saban has won, he deserves some criticism here.
