Heated exchange between Nick Saban and Paul Finebaum

So I guess for some of you Saban is the lesser of two evils when Finebaum is the greater. It's likely Butch would have suspended them until he got to the bottom of it. So many of you favor Saban's handling of the situation over the way Butch would have handled it? Interesting.

Interested in you showing me a player Jones has suspended for not having charges against them

That is correct... but still we know that some coaches would feel at liberty to reinstate him upon such an agreement being reached.

Some very well might. But that's a huge risk. When it comes to violent crime, it's dumb to keep someone playing while charges are pending.

Paul hurt Saban'a feelings. I've never seen Saban so emotional. I wonder why he seems so uncomfortable. Oh that's right.

See you in Knoxville, and Atlanta if your good enough.

Forgot about Paulk.......didn't agree with his discipline either. Innocent until proven guilty should be the norm with these things IMO.

I agree with you. I also think that Butch Jones has proven himself to be much more stringent with discipline than many of his peers including Nick Saban. He doesn't get enough credit for that because of the stupid Title IX suit and what Bowles claimed... but his actions don't support a coach who is light on discipline at all.

You honestly dont't think they got off because they're football players?

"I want to emphasize once again that the main reason I'm doing this is that I refuse to ruin the lives of two young men who have spent their adolescence and teenage years, working and sweating, while we were all in the air conditioning," district attorney Jerry Jones

Translation: The boosters check cleared so you young men are free to go...

Take it to Facebook. :clapping:

If Saban would have had a stack on phone books to stand on he was have smacked the taste out of Paul's mouth.

he suspends them when there are allegations against them, and doesn't change until charges are brought or not brought. and even then they still have to be cleared by the university before they can resume team functions. hardly Saban's "internal punishment"

He didnt with Von Pearson - but Alexis Johnson is still suspended even though the charges were dropped

He booted Paulk and no charges were ever brought.

Edit: sorry. Should read entire thread before posting:)

Situations determine if I agree or not.

On this Saban situation, they should at least get a game IMO, but it's his program.

Paulk was seen punching a woman in the face. There doesn't need to be charges filed. It's more of a question of if you need/want a guy like that on your roster. Maybe under another climate(one where UT was not about to face a lawsuit and just got done suspending 2 guys due to rape allegations) the punishment may have been more lenient. I can understand Butch's choice here.

I completely agree with everything and we should also keep in mind that Joe Mixon of Oklahoma was also seen punching a woman in the face (apparently even on video - though the public will never see it) and he is still very much on their team. I just want to emphasize in this thread that Butch Jones, when compared to his peers, is a stringent disciplinarian. His actions have confirmed this. Saban, while being the best coach ever, is very sketchy in this area.
