Hello everyone it's time once again to play everyone's favorite game show, RATE THIS CLASS!

I like that the biggest need IMO was O line and that was addressed, d line the 2nd biggest need not so much. A 2nd WR recruit makes no sense to me and seems we are crowded with TE's, why take another 3*? As good as Gray may be I think taking him was a luxury. Overall I think it is a good solid recruiting haul, I am probably wrong about Gray.

Class ranking doesn't matter much if the recruits are not what was needed, I think the future Oline can open holes grandma could run thru.
JMO.....but Gray and Chandler can both be on the field and one in the slot........

I see people are falling into the exact same trap they did with Lyle Jones. Playing time is the easiest thing in the world to sell. Playing time at a storied program in the SEC is a walk in the park. Pruitt is not some recruiting genius- OR, maybe he is. This class doesn't tell us anything, imo. Remember, the same nit wits from the recruiting forum that kept telling you to give Jones more time because he was "building a dynasty" are the same one coming out now.
So fire him now, avoid the rush?

Lol.

Looks like lots of excuses. In the end we still missed.

We have a great class now, no doubt about it, but we lost real TN football players to elite football schools. I’d like to see less of that in the future.
I was glad to see you spending a little time in the RF lately. Unfortunately, your comments here suggest it was nowhere near enough.

That or you're intentionally misleading people who don't spend a lot of time in the recruiting forum. I hope that's not the case.

@jakez4ut is giving a 100% accurate account.

With Wright best class since 2015 and a lot of those guys in 2015 never played or left. If all these guys are developed we'll be a very competent team if we can add another comparable class the next season. We don't know who will succeed at the college level and who will not be able to make the transition. I think we'll have a lot more success developing players than we did with Jones.

But why you so mad?

? Not mad at all. Just don't want us to yet again fall in love with a GUY instead of the University. I'd like to see a coach earn the adulation before we pile it on him this time around. Pruitt may end up being great. He's done nothing yet to prove that. Why can't we wait before we try and spin him into some kind of genius?

Fans gonna fan and you ain't gonna change that. And I'm not saying you are trying to change it, but you are suggesting we wait.

I only see 1 or 2 maybe playing it out like he's some kind of recruiting genius and I think they're just being overly excited. But whatever. I don't think he's preformed a miracle or anything, but he did pull in a few really good ones, and so what if some fans get a little excited? That's the thing I don't get. I know you're gonna tell me I'm wrong, but it just sometime seems people get mad at others cause they're excited about something good. Lol, its all good tho. I'm just shootin the chit.

I think we must fundamentally disagree on the definition of “loss”. Jakez admitted we went after 3 in-state guys and didn’t get them but claims it wasn’t a loss. Despite your condescending remark I don’t need to spend more time on the recruiting forum to recognize this. Whatever excuses you want to make is fine but we still missed on them. Doesn’t matter if we started late recruiting them or if they liked another school more. The result is the same.

This doesn’t mean Pruitt is a bad recruiter or we don’t have a great class. It’s not the end of the world we just didn’t win the state. I don’t think that’s misleading.

I agree Behr. Part of the fun of being a fan for me is getting excited. I have had to look really hard for years for things to get excited about. I don't understand why someone would want to be a fan if it made them miserable as it seems to make some people. When I was learning to play golf I improved to a certain point and I seemed to hit a wall. I would play pretty well but would always have one bad hole that screwed up my score. Then one day I was playing by myself and I caught an old man on the 3rd hole. We played the rest of the round together.
Everything was going great until the 15th hole. Triple bogey. Lost my mind. When we finished the round and headed to the parking lot, the old man said "Son can I ask you something?"
I said sure. He said do you get paid to play this game? I said heck no! He said then why do you do it? I said I love the game. He said didn't seem like you were loving it after the 15th hole. He said you had a great round going until then. You got mad and it quit being fun. I just looked at him with a puzzled look on my face. He said life is to short to PAY to do something that pisses you off that bad. On the way home I thought about what he said. We exchanged phone numbers and played for years after that. I learned a lot from that old man before he died. Weird thing is as soon as I took his advice I knocked 4 strokes off my handicap. I said all that to say this. If you can't get excited being a fan or if you can only find the bad in something. Maybe you need to find something you can get excited about.

@Vol524

We're all different and nobody is gonna change anybody else.

Some of these people seem like they've been pissed off since Fulmer stabbed Johnny in the back. Lol.

I get pissed and sometimes it hurts down to the bone when we lose or something doesn't go our way, like coaching searches, but I get over it quickly. Majors gone. Fulmer gone. Kiffin gone. Dooley and Jones gone. Its been a terrible 10+ years, but they gone too. Pruitt is here and that's really all that matters. We've been patient with all those guys now its time to be with Pruitt. Doesn't matter if you wanted him or not. We can enjoy every bit we can, or not. Pretty simple IMO.

What we disagree on is that we "need to win the state". This isn't the70's or 80's.

The population explosion in TN didn't happen because people started multiplying like crazy here.
There has been a huge influx of people across the South and kids from Georgia are playing at UT or Florida, kids from TN are more than happy to go to UGA or Clemson.

Even the ones that grew up a fan of the home school (any school) don't base their careers on that. And coaches don't base their needs off where the kid is from. Posters already asked you if considered UGA's recruiting a failure because several of their top players left. I notice that you didn't answer.

We need talent and fit and I don't give a flip where they come from. You can say "in-state, in-state" till your blue, hell, go back and count the wins from the Jones legacy players if you choose. (Hint: not many without Dobbs from Georgia)
But don't expect everyone else to care where the players come from if we win or even if we lose. Fan reaction will be based off of that, period.

For me, I'm going back to celebrating the former #1 rated player in the country. You know, the one from North Carolina that I wouldn't trade for 1 of the TN kids that aren't here. Catch you over there.

i think Behr and Vol 524 just put me in the Christmas spirit. I needed that. Good on you brothers.

So far, this cycle has taken me on a roller coaster. I'm not sure how I'll feel when the ride is over, but I'm feeling good right now.

I didn’t see that. The state of Georgia produces a ton of talent but they don’t have enough room for all of it. Approx 40ish 4 and 5 star players each year maybe.

As for the rest I agree to disagree. If Pruitt’s guys pan out better than the guys we lost then no big deal. I guess it’s just a pride thing to have some homegrown guys on the squad especially if it looks like they can play.

I’m happy to nab the #1 guy from NC anyway. We’re at our best when we steal talent from the Carolinas.

JP will get us some quality talent, even if he doesn't work out we'll be in much better shape down the road.

I can respect the pride.
Of course it helps when you find kids that feel the same. Instead of flipping to rival Georgia and singing **** Tennessee.

Didn't say the times were changing for the better, just that they have changed.

I think the thing that should get attention is are we getting the ones we want. That's what is getting lost in all this.

What has to be avoided at all costs is taking a kid JUST because he's in state.

Which is why I've been beating the drum I have been lately.

I don't have an issue with the in state recruiting because we got who we wanted except for the three.

We got the other 5 or 6 we targeted.

People that are criticizing the in state either don't know what happened or just want to push the "he failed" narrative....
