Surgery is complete and so far successful. The surgeon stated she did amazing. The aorta is repaired and her heart is in normal rhythm. Due to her heart working harder over the past 9 months, he suspects she will be on blood pressure medicine for about 6 months and then her blood pressure hopefully will return to normal. They are closing her up now and preparing to take her to PCICU. So many changes can occur between now and tomorrow but I promise to give an update when I can.

God is so awesome. I can't thank Him enough for this blessing. And I can't thank Him enough for all of your prayers and support.

Good morning, VN.

Quick update...

Miss Ashlee is progressing nicely. She came off the vent last night and is breathing with the help of the nasal canula and a small amount of oxygen--not exactly where her surgeon wanted her but still doing well. She did not like the tube.

Her blood pressure fluctuates, depending on her mood but, when she's calm, it's right where it should be...which, for her, has never happened in her lifetime without the help from her BP med. She'll likely stay on that for about 6 months. Her heart, while strong and healthy, is somewhat thick from having to pump hard for so long that it will take some time to normalize. The MD equated it to lifting weights everyday for 9 months...the muscles just don't go away over night, once you stop lifting.

She was pretty agitated yesterday because of the tube until they gave her benadryl...which she apparently takes like me--knocks me out for about a day and a half. Hopefully today she'll be much better now that she's been extubated.

Thank you again for your prayers. They're always appreciated!

Glory to our Heavenly Father that your little baby girl is doing very well!! What a trooper! As she grows older, I don't think there will be anything that she can't overcome. I pray we get the chance to cross paths one day. Ashlee and your whole family are inspirations!
