I'm willing to bet my left nut that his offense at WKU will set records....just the way the cookie crumbles for us.
He will probably do that but doing it in the sunbelt or whatever conf. it is vs doing it in the SEC is two difference things.Let WKU play 8 SEC teams and he will make WKU offense look just like he made Tn offense look like,
I don't think we can credibly say it "didn't work" at UT. It never had a chance, no one, no one can scheme around no pass blocking and no run blocking, and that's something he inherited. The jury was still out on Helton as an SEC offensive coordinator. Someone obviously thought something of him at WKU.So if Helton's offense works in conference-USA, he's vindicated for it not working at UT?

I agree, that's why I said the jury is still out on whether or not he could be a good SEC coordinator, I just don't think we can say definitively that he was not capable of being a quality SEC coordinator either based on this year. The bottom line is our offensive line outside of Trey Smith are atrocious. If we had an average SEC OL, we would have had a shot at 7-5 or 8-4, but it was Chinese fire drill anytime our QB's dropped back to pass, our RB's were having to dodge people in the backfield on the regular. It was really awful and embarrassing considering some of the great lines this program has had in the past, and it was definitely a personnel problem. You can call plays to protect a so-so QB, you can call plays if you are stronger in the backfield than at receiver and vice versa but if you can't block anybody, you are going to have problems no matter what you try. It's speculation at best. I just don't think there's any credence to saying that if he finds success at WKU, then he would have been successful at UT over time.
Yes he was! Play calling was horrid for the most part!I have no idea whether Helton was a cause or not of our offensive woes. I suspect it was a combo of Helton's style not matching CJP's, hence constant friction, a lack of developed talent upon his arrival, and a failure to develop the talent that is here.
I wish him luck at WKU.
And I hope Pruitt realizes this next hire is the hire that is the most critical of his entire career, and may determine his future success at UT and beyond. DON'T SCREW THIS UP.
