Just as recruiting is heating up...

https://www.si.com/college/2023/04/04/tennessee-pruitt-ncaa-infractions-case-hearing

School officials, former head football coach Jeremy Pruitt and former defensive coordinator Derrick Ansley are scheduled to appear before members of the Committee on Infractions later this month, in what’s become a somewhat contentious fight between each of the three parties and the association. The three parties received a letter announcing the three-day hearing, scheduled for April 19–21 in Cincinnati, multiple sources tell Sports Illustrated.

Pruitt & Co. will try to put as much hurt on us as they possibly can.

I say bring it and get it all over with.

At worst we could always do what North Carolina did about the grades for Basketball players and courses they never attended and just say were not doing anything you say about punishment as I see there transgressions being much greater than anything we are accused of and we have self punished ourselves much more than North Carolina ever did.

In all honestly the NCAA is toothless for the most part and most likely nearing the end of existence.

To me this is more of a telling moment for NCAA then UT.

After all UT spent investigating and cooperating, if they do anything of consequence to UT, NOT one institution moving forward will take the UT route and do a full investigation. Moving forward, institutions will not look under any rocks for additional infractions as UT did.

At most the NCAA will try to add some more scholarship bans to show they still have teeth. This is more of a power move by a two headed snake that has had it’s heads chopped off and is still slithering around.

I would love to know his defense strategy. Unless he blames it solely on Fulmer, then I don't see how he couldnt be at 100% fault for cash payments.

I think we are looking at a bowl ban this season and loss of scholarships and that’s it

No, the NCAA will accept our already self imposed penalties and that's all except for maybe some probation. Coming down on us after praising our cooperation and openness would slam the door shut on any other institution cooperating with them.

I agree. All ADs' eyes are on the AA and UT to see if this plan works. It was certainly a gamble imo, but it sounds like it may pay off.

It seems like the AA is trying to give Cornbread and Co due process, so I can respect that. After UT spent millions building their case, admitting guilt, punishing culprits, and repairing their image with new staff and administration, I don't see how he has a snowball's chance in Hades at escaping unscathed.

If they try to do either then we should sue the hell out of them. They let LSU participate in the post season after the Feds had Wade on a wiretap. They are powerless and there’s no reason for us to be their whipping boy.

UNC paid $23 million for that. If the NCAA tries to do anything they are setting a very dangerous precedent. We did everything correctly after learning what Pruitt and Co. did . We were transparent and removed everyone involved w/ the program . If you do all of that and they still try to smack us what incentive will any school have to cooperate w/ the NCAA moving forward? The NCAA is trying to regain footing and be relevant. The worst thing they can do is make nonsense decision that hurts people that were not involved. Which means that’s probably what they’ll do.

I hope your right but I never trust the NCAA they are erratic and unpredictable in how they do things.

My dad is worried about that too is they throw a ridiculous bowl ban on us just to make a example of us to show everyone they still have some power to wield.

The only penalty I can see that would make some sense and wouldn’t effect our current coaching staff and players is if they made us forfeit our three wins in 2020 over South Carolina, Mizzou and Vandy. We have already self imposed some penalties anyway.

The never ending investigation by the NCAA. I feel like 10 years from now, the NCAA will send out memo advising everyone that they are still looking into it

If they ban Tennessee or impose any significant penalties after UT’s actions, I will tell off anyone representing the NCAA at any level for the rest of time - for as long as they are within my field of vision. After their white glove treatment of Will Wade, and several other debacles the NCAA has ignored, they better not spit on Tennessee. They had better not.

Ole JP getting ready to take one for the team, and by team I mean Bama and his mentor Saban. That's why they met a couple months back, to refine the game plan on how to screw Tennessee as hard as they could.

Very true, the NCAA isn't known for doing the right or smart thing so they could slam us trying to make an example. If they do that I hope it's the straw that breaks the camels back and the P5 splits off.
