Here Comes the Recession

We're going to do this again? It's barely been a decade
Not necessarily going to be a mortgage crisis. However it is interesting how AirBnB has been impacting the rental market in larger cities. That's what I make of it, so far.

Airbnb as investment properties had a huge negative impact on affordable housing, especially in vacation areas. Maybe a reset will do some good

So, Trump's claims that the Kingdom and Russia are going to slash production by 10-15M/bbl a day... is there anything to actually back up said claims, or is this more of Trump just spouting what he *wants to have happen*? I'm not buying his BS. Trump is the ultimate bullsh*tter. Spouting non-stop lies like any good land developer / reality TV show host / carnival sideshow barker does.

The Kingdom WANTS low prices to bankrupt the US fracking industry. They finally figured out that every time OPEC does a supply cut, the US industry just steps in and ultimately captures their former market share. MBS is a ruthless Mfer (see: Khashoggi). He's not backing down. Russia? Please. Oh sure, our two good buddies gonna help out old Donald.

Oil rallied sharply on Thursday after President Donald Trump said he expected Saudi Arabia and Russia to cut back on oil production to save the drowning oil and gas industry.

Brent crude oil jumped as much as 47%, to $36.29, while West Texas Intermediate crude rose 35%, to $27.39, at intrasession highs. The resource started rallying on Wednesday after Trump first signaled a potential agreement between Saudi Arabia and Russia.

Trump provided different volume estimates in separate tweets, first mentioning a cutback of about 10 million barrels and then suggesting it could be "as high as 15 Million Barrels."

Trump said on Wednesday that he believed a deal would be reached within days. Such a deal is expected to lower production and bring prices back up.

The Kingdom might want the frackers to go bankrupt, but even if every one of those companies would, that high quality oil will still be in the ground and the technology and equipment to extract it will still exist. Once prices rise it will flow again, just under a different equity structure.

The economic expansion may be coming to an end, if the bond market tea leaves are correct. Last summer, For the first time since the financial crisis, the benchmark 10-year Treasury yield fell below the two-year yield, a pricing anomaly known as a “yield curve inversion”. Only once since 1950 has the yield difference become negative and a recession has NOT shortly ensued.

Obviously, the economy is really the only thing propping up Trump for potential re-election this Fall. If the economic dominoes tumble, buh bye.

If it's gonna happen, hopefully it will be short and not too severe. It's been a huge positive run since the crash of 2008/9.

RE: Trump's oil claims.

So, this is what I'm talking about. He's a flat-out lying mfer. Now, the oil market will collapse one again, once they come to the obvious realization that Donald is simply making sh*t up. There is no agreement to reduce oil, it's pure BS.

Trump is a pathetic snake oil salesman. That anyone believes a single word that comes out of his mouth amazes me.

IMO, the only way that there will be a significant oil production reduction is if the US also agrees to reduce production. This, of course, if backed by Trump, would the most anti-competitive, anti-free-market, pro-cartel, socialist thing ever. Naturally, the blind Trumpster sheep would wave their red hats, and hail their master as a genius.

CNN:

"President Donald Trump set off a record spike for US crude futures on Thursday with a tweet saying he expected Russia and Saudi Arabia to cut production by as much as 15 million barrels per day.
US oil prices soared before closing with a record single-day record gain of 25%. Why such enthusiasm? Russia and Saudi Arabia are locked in a brutal price war, and coordinated production cuts could soak up excess supply and boost prices.

Trump, who needs prices to rise significantly to prevent a wave of bankruptcies among US shale producers, got what he wanted. But there were reasons to question the veracity of what the president tweeted.

Problem 1: Trump said he had just spoken to his friend, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, who had spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin. But the Kremlin denied that such a phone call had taken place.

Problem 2: The American president said that he expects Russia and Saudi Arabia to cut production by as many as 10 million barrels per day, and potentially up to 15 million barrels per day. But the lower end of that range is equal to all of Saudi Arabia's production."

I’m not sure you know how “markets” work.
Frackers make money over $45-50 a barrel, why would they produce at $20?

I also like how Trump is an idiot liar but the guys trading on the oil market are somehow dumber.

Wow!

Did you do that all by yourself?

Trump brings it on himself, nobody is forcing him to get on Twitter.
Trump is getting exactly what he wants out of Twitter and there’s an army of useful idiots helping him.

Example: there’s a searchable site with all of his tweets!

Another example: that dipshit tweet formatter that puts Trump’s tweets on WH formatting.

He’s leading them around by twitter and they are willingly enabling him.

I don’t for one minute believe Trump is some master manipulator. He’s just a buffoon.

I'm beginning to wonder.

My opinion is those that follow his tweets are just doing more harm to their cause, the tweets speak for themself, and it isn’t like he is going to stop anyway. And those that think he is some genius manipulator are projecting what they want to believe given how stupid some of it is, not what is really happening - it is really that stupid.

I think he's a better manipulator and is more calculated than you give him credit. I used to think he's just a tweeting buffoon but starting to have my doubts.

Buffoons don't become president. Trump has what I'd call an extremely high social intelligence. Any good politician does.

"Intelligence" does not necessarily mean an intellectual intelligence or curiosity. Trump certainly does not have that. However, aside from perhaps Obama, which Presidents have been intellectuals?
