I just can't get past this. I know it is only one game and a snap shoot in time, but its not even close. Is this the same secondary and defensive staff he is bringing? Look at the lack of halftime adjustments and we know Dooley never made any at halftime. Without our two lost fumbles and penalities the score would have been even more lopsided. Look at Time of Position, in the SEC ball control and ToP are usually critical. Not trying to be negative just logical. This was only 15 months ago.

It's one game and we had superior talent and a good attitude at that point in the year. You can't judge a coach from one game. Using your logic we could deduce nick Saban isn't a good coach because he lost to ULM or whoever it was. Guess he doesn't know how to make adjustment.

If I cloned myself 25 times and went to play any college in the nation,I would get embarrased because they will have have superior talent...same case here...

Don't let one game become a problem for you. Look at the "history of the work" of the two teams and you will feel better. Much better.

It doesn't matter if you can get past it or not. It is what it is...for at least the next 3 years. Live with it...and hope that we are pleasantly rewarded with some wins!

Tennessee had superior talent. Problem solved.

Maybe but I wish someone would compare rosters for that game and see who had the most seniors etc as a comparison. If I remember correctly we were really thin especially on defense.

If you look at Butch Jones career and break it down you will see as time goes by his teams seem to get better. Somebody the other day posted his teams defense stats and by his third year they were in the top 15 in scoring defense. I'm not saying he going to win or not. I will say this if some of his trends continue he will be at Tennessee for as long as he wants to be. Also about that game you can't seem to get past was the 14th game he coached at Cincy and he would go on to win a bowl game and 10 games. Just saying he gets better with time.

This was also pretty close to being Dools high water mark. If they lined up today with this years teams, both coaches in their 3rd years, I would take UC. I just think Jones is a better coach. What am I missing?

I spent most of last weekend trying to drink over this one fact. We fired our coach so we could hire one of the few coaches he beat.

Just focus on coach Jones record and overall body of work. It actually looks pretty good and is alot easier on your liver.

It's a fair comparison. However, I would say is it fair to judge the University of Cincinnati coaches and system when they don't have the type of players and facilities that we have? Because we don't know what we are going to get in that case. I've heard BJ got graded high at Cincinnati because he was able to make chicken salad out of chicken you know what...so...what's going to happen when he brings that here?

I said this before on here. The Cincy game last year was the ONLY game that Dooley had all of his players healthy, and a defensive staff that had been together for over one year. Tennessee was a pretty good team before Hunter and Bray went down last year.

I agree with that...and I think Wilcox did a better job then a lot of people give him credit for considering what we had at the time..I do remember the Cincy running back Pead giving us all kinds of problem that game. If BJ could turn Marlin Lane or Neal into that type of player it would go along way...odds are he'll have to recruit someone less heralded to come in and be a part of a committee thing.

If we had played Cincy at the end of the 2010 season rather than the beginning, I assure you it would have been a much different outcome.

I agree with this to a point, but then how do you explain a loss like Vandy?

two words Derek Dooley, well kinda but in all seriousness; a team without a vision is like bringing a knife to a gun fight. The team was divided and Vandy is believing in themselves...Emotions can be a big factor...
