Here is my real problem.

I think this season was pretty much a roller coaster ride emotionally speaking. We were reeling pretty bad for the Vandy game (almost similarly to the Kentucky game the year before). You could say a lot of things that could criticize the Dooley regime but ultimately I think the players weren't interested in coming out to play hard for Dooley. I think it's an indictment on him as a person more than him as a coach. You saw the results--I think players lost faith in him earlier then that game IMO.

I just can't get past this. I know it is only one game and a snap shoot in time, but its not even close. Is this the same secondary and defensive staff he is bringing? Look at the lack of halftime adjustments and we know Dooley never made any at halftime. Without our two lost fumbles and penalities the score would have been even more lopsided. Look at Time of Position, in the SEC ball control and ToP are usually critical. Not trying to be negative just logical. This was only 15 months ago.

The biggest difference is what happened after the game. Every coach will lose a game. A good coach will learn from the loss and let the feeling motivate his players to rise up and overcome any future adversity. Coach Jones did just that, winning his next 6 straight and 9 of the next 11 games over all.

On the other hand, we went on and lost 7 of our next 10 games. Arguably our schedule was tougher but when you compare two 2nd year coaches it seems one taught his players how to win and one taught his how to lose.

Look at where the two teams went after this game.
High point for ut and low point for cinci.

I think I would compare opponents for the remainder of the respective seasons. No way UC could have done better if they had our schedule the balance of the season.

From those stats, I deduced that although Tennessee had the more talented team, Cincy exhibited better ball control and had a solid running game (two things we need!). Defense was weak in the game, but it was also a mismatch between Big East defensive players and a decent SEC offense. That same defense, however, held a solid NC State team to 14 points, Louisville to 16 points, and a good WVU offense to 24 points.

And in the end, they finished the 2011 season 9-3 with a bowl win over Vanderbilt

OK let's cut to the chase on this 2011 head to head
According to the NCAA at the end of the 2011 season Tennessee had the 6th hardest schedule and Cinny came in at 107.
The SEC was ranked number1 toughest conference and the big east was number 7.

The ball control don't fly ToP we beat them by 17 minutes Peeds runs were mostly long ones against a freshmen and sophomore defense.

You explain it by a lot of I don't give a **** attitudes and I don't believe in our coaching staff's ability to do jack**** by the players

I agree with that..we were screwed either way. The players did not care and it showed and the coaches knew exactly what was going to happen to Dooley. Playing for pride and all that is great but it makes you wonder what might have happened had Hart fired Dooley after South Carolina. It might have made this job better...not saying it would have changed our hire and everything but to lose the amount of games we lost and the way we lost you would say we weren't a talented football team. I tend to disagree.

Tennessee had superior talent. Problem solved.

And that's something you just can't coach.

You give me me Nick Saban's team, and him my high school team, I would still beat Nick Saban.

Doesn't mean he's a bad coach, just means I would have more talent. Compare Butch Jones record to other Big East schools if you want a fair picture.

If Dooley had had the 107 th hardest schedule he would have still been here and treated like the next coming :birgits_giggle:

Making a comparison that people know here...but USC's team was ranked number 1 beginning of the year. Trojans always supposedly have tons of talent. Five losses later they are in the Sun Bowl. It kind of makes you wonder...

If you're going to go by "volswillrise12", you should have a dp of Phoenix, not Wolverine.

You surely are not comparing Cinny to a high school team and UT to Bama?

If Butch Jones won the NC here in 2013, they would all say "he did it with Dooley's players", or "his offense won't be effective long term"

Or some other garbage. Some people are never happy, sadly they are normally the one's who cry loudest.
