here's the deal folks

As much as I could hope CBJ would "adjust" the O to fit the players I realize that we don't have a QB that would fit any system. All teams have to do is stack the box and force Worley to beat them. this would be true with any other system. I think CBJ is doing all he can with what he has.

POS is not a good term for Butch and I retract that part of my statement.......but he may not be a good coach if opposing fans love him......that means they feel no threat of losing to him. Sorry for the POS reference.

Urban Meyer thinks OP is a moron.

i'll say it again. in no particular order.

1. florida had a defense in 2005 and 2006.

2. chris leak could do some things well. he is florida's career passing yardage leader. do you think tennessee's offense would look a tad better with chris leak instead of justin worley?

3. the offenses in 2005 and 2006 weren't good.

4. the 2004 offense was better than 2005 and 2006.

5. they added percy harvin and tim tebow to the mix in 2006.

urban meyer did indeed tweak the offense a little to fit the personnel, but he had personnel (namely a qb) who could do something.

but, florida won primarily because of its defense in the first 2 years. something tennessee does not have. the offense did not take off until tebow became the starting qb in 2007. and once tebow left, the offense turned back to crap because florida did not have a qb and did not have a dynamic playmaker at the skill positions.

urban meyer was there in 2010 at florida. why is it florida couldn't tweak its way out of that offensive debacle in 2010? and those players had played in that system since they arrived on campus.

Here is a question for you 99: If Butch was the gators coach how excited would you be for the future of gator football?

honestly, i would be scared. i would be encouraged by the recruiting.

i have said from the beginning, that butch's career proves he is a guy, not a god. he isn't going to beat people with inferior talent. he can win with equal or superior talent. but, he was like 50-27 in taking the job at tennessee. so, it's not like his resume suggested that he doesn't lose games. it suggested that given time to get his people, he'll win games.

i think tennessee is no better place than they were in 2010. i have made comments like this from the get go.

normally 1/3 of a recruiting class does not pan out. that's any class at any school. if the other 2/3 for whatever reason do not cut the mustard out of the 2014 and 2015 classes, i don't know how long butch will last.

it's hard for me to think about this, because i have not seen a florida team this devoid of talent. i've seen bad offenses and bad defenses, but never at the same time. and it usually wasn't long before some prospect or group of prospects were on their way to change things.

so, the best answer i could give is that i would be scared. which is meant to say, i wouldn't be confident one way or the other.

let me also say here, that tennessee's main problem is talent. so, what i think butch will do that kiffin and dooley failed to do is leave tennessee better than when they found it.

the shame of the last few years is kiffin took a poor situation and made it a lot worse.

and dooley took a bad situation that could do nothing but improve and did not improve it.

This season has always been about the last 4 games of the year. We are sitting exactly where every "reasonable" fan thought we would be at this point in the year. Is there still a chance we steal a game from GA, Bama, USCe, yes not not very likely. We still are lacking the playmakers on both offense and defense to compete with the top of the SEC. What we really need to worry about it being able to beat Missouri, Auburn and Vandy. That is where are right now, and the quicker people realize that the better they and the team will be. Doesn't mean we shouldn't root for a win each and every game, we should.

99,

Good job. The only thing I have an issue with is that it all starts upfront with the O-line. If they're having issues with Butch's system, and none of them will be here next year, then isn't Butch basically starting all over next season?

If that's the case, play to your team's strengths. I hate to go back to Urban Meyer, but didn't he win a title with a "hybrid" version of his O? Leak wasn't a spread QB. So he played to Leak's strengths while incorporating Tebow in certain situations.

What exactly ARE Worley's strengths though? He can't run, he has no accuracy, he has no arm strength, he makes bad decisions with the football, etc. Yet according this staff he's our best option at QB. Why do you think going to a pro set is going to suddenly change all that for him?

He hasn't been here long enough for them to have any feeling one way or the other, but in time they will not love him!

You can't play smash mouth with 10 guys within 5 yards of the ball. If USA did not respect our ability to burn them with the pass then imagine what the Bama game will look like. Ole Miss got 200 yds on Bama, we are looking at 150.

Sure you can, but we'll be the guys with the busted lip.
