Bone couldn't hold his spot at Southern Illinois, either.

My point isn't that Bone is great. It's more that I wouldn't be surprised if there's not too much dropoff considering how unimpressive Goins has been. Given the chance, it wouldn't surprise me if he would lose the same Southern Illinois spot.

He has produced, not to your standards though...I do understand where you are coming from though...but you are very biased in your opinions.

He's not produced enough to get the money he is receiving.

The athletic director disagrees with you.

What Jim Calhoun makes is not Bruce Pearl's problem. That's between him and Connecticut.

I don't hate Pearl or anything, but I can't see how some of you guys think his salary is somehow irrelevant. When we started spending a ton of money on the basketball program -- facilities, coaching, everything -- the expectations rightfully went up too. We're paying for more than a feel-good story now.

The AD giving him that raise was absolute stupidity.

Is this an example of the "one liner and run" I've seen you complaining about on this board? Not much substance here.

The AD paid what he felt Pearl deserved and what he felt he needed to pay him to retain him. I'm going to take a guess that he had a little more information at his disposal, experience and knowledge to make a decision than the average anonymous internet message board poster. He did the right thing.

All Hamilton would have to do is some research to find out the market price of other coaches.

We are paying Rolls Royce money for a Subaru.

Hammy is to blame for the contract for being dumb enough to believe that Pearl had a Snow Ball's chance in Hell of getting one of the jobs that his people were sniffing around for him last year.

We've seen this type of moronic activity from Hamilton in the past with The Fat Fired Coach's ludicrous contract.

He did his research but when it comes down to it, what one coach makes at another school is irrelevant. It's what he's worth to your school to keep him. Obviously the powers that be believe he's worth it as do the majority of the fan base. You're really hung up on his pay as are most individuals who are looking to complain about something. It's an obvious target however off target it may be.

The name calling on this board is just silly and immature. It's certainly a lot more fun to be negative when you post (anonymously) on message boards than it is to be supportive.

There are multiple people on this board who know who I am.

As far as the pay... You see no problem in paying a coach Elite level money to get mediocre results? If so I would love to have your business.

His results are FAR from mediocre. I would post what he's done for Tennessee but it's been done many a time and usually met with some sort of mockery by those not interested in facts.

So the Sweet 16 is great?

By that standard, Jerry Green was a great coach.

It's certainly not mediocre. And it goes well beyond that but I'm resisting posting what he's done for Tennessee for reasons mentioned above.

I love it when people who act like reaching the Sweet 16 is an elite accomplishment talk about "facts."

You know what I'm talking about. There is a long list of very good accomplishments since he's taken over as head coach.

Look, I understand I'm dealing with the fringe element of the fanbase and trying to convince you of anything that is good about Tennessee basketball is a waste of time but something tells me most of you know how far overboard you go w/ your posts and mostly do it because you get a kick out of stirring the pot.

Please state facts that make you so all-knowing.

You think because he filled an arena with moronic, fairweather fans that he deserves to make elite level money?

"Very good accomplishments" warrant neither the elite salary nor the slobbering adoration Pearl receives.

You HAVE to be kidding me with this comment. I don't even know how to respond. So he fills the arena with fans who enjoy watching the team play and that's BAD?? And THEY'RE fairweather?

I bet you're a lot of fun at parties.

Wait and see some of the crowds when people finally realize what we have running the bball program.

Some have seen it coming quicker than others.

Again you bring nothing. Don't worry. I'm sure Iowa City will look much more attractive to Tanning Bed this time around. Then, you can slobber on him up close.

Style over substance is strong with you.
