Herm Edwards fired

That’s the worst website on the internet. They’ve proven over the years that they don’t know ****. Stanford is not going to fire David Shaw.
Frankly if you look at it, there’s no reason you need to wait around for “proof”. The creator is obviously just some random person trying to advertise using obvious stuff.

I agree for now. Auburn should be the better job, but they’re so toxic I have a hard time believing that they’re going to be attractive to program building coaches like a Dave Doeren or Mark Stoops.
Auburn has always been a wildly inconsistent program that has had horrible seasons almost immediately followed up by great ones. However, they are really flirting with disaster this time. Their current situation reminds me a lot of ours in 2016-17 when Dave Hart retired and Butch was on something of a hot seat. It set up a situation where we had to look for a new AD, and then that AD was immediately faced with a situation where he basically had to fire the head coach.

Auburn's new AD, whoever it is, is going to be railroaded by Yella Fella + other boosters to fire Harsin, unless Auburn does something crazy like win out. Auburn's next coaching search might actually surpass the insanity that was the Currie/Schiano/Pruitt search. I think they already have us beat as far as the overall level of dysfunction, but we still have the single craziest coaching search of all time.

I think Auburn may have to take a chance and offer the job to either Hugh Freeze or Jamie Chadwell.

Hugh Freeze makes $4m/year to coach Liberty. Sure, Auburn would offer him $6m/year or maybe more, but would it be worth it? Freeze can do well at Liberty in his sleep.
That's a good point you make. Auburn with their infighting will have to go the retread, mid level up and comer or rising assistant rough since their situation may scare off a lot of head coaches. I do think the first head coach that Auburn pursues will be Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops and if he turns them down Hugh Freeze and Jamie Chadwell.

That's the thing about coaching salaries these days. There is still a noticeable gap in pay between good G5 jobs and P5 jobs, and there's a gap between a rank and file P5 job an a big time P5 job. However good G5 coaches can pull $2-4m/year, and there are many coaches at rank and file P5 schools (Stoops at Kentucky being maybe the best example) making $5-6m/year. Nick freaking Saban was making $6m/year at Alabama as recently as 2016...Stoops makes that at Kentucky today. Stoops can hang out forever at UK because all they really want is to average 7-8 wins, which he has more than proven he can do, and he gets generous raises just for remaining there. Unless it is purely an ego move, there is absolutely no reason for him to leave that job. The compensation-to-stress ratio is fantastic.

Guys can be way more selective than they used to when climbing the ladder because they are paid pretty damn well to be on the lower rungs of it. Going from $250k/year to $4m/year is life-changing. Is going from $6m to $10m life changing? I'm not sure.

I dont see them going small this time that's how they got Harsin.

I think FSU wins 8-9 games and beats Florida saving Mike Norvell's job
I don’t think Norvell is in any danger whatsoever of losing his job. This isn’t Florida State from the 80’s/90’s, and Bobby Bowden isn’t walking back through that door.
