Heup Haters

I hated on Heup a bit last night, mostly out of confusion. I think he has an identity crisis with this offense right now. He wants to run his usual style, but that’s obviously not who this team is this year.

Numbers 1-3 aren’t true. Number 4 is at times.
I think he’s elite at #2. He knows where we’re at on offense and defense. He’s playing complementary football and taking fewer offensive risks hoping turnovers don’t lose us games.

Just think about these Questions?
1. How many RS Freshmen have won a SEC Championship? or a National Championship? Not that many. Less than a handful in both cases.
2. How many true Freshman have won a SEC Championship? or a National Championship? A few.

When answering those questions use the criteria that they started from Day 1 and played throughout the season.

Realism.

True Freshman: I don't think any have won since the BCS started. Frazier*, Holieway, Leach Lawrence? Maybe? But was not the starter at first of the season. NC based on AP and UPI polls. SEC? 0?

RS Freshman: Winston?

So is it realistic to think Nico is not up to par when realistically looking above? First time for everything, but odds are against this happening.

Just to throw it out but a lot of people here wanted Kiffin over Heup and Kiffin, despite the talent at Ole Miss, already has 2 losses and is no longer considered a playoff contender.

He just has to do what needs to be done this year and get rid of his friend at oline coach. It’s a joke to be this bad in year 4 at that position. we recruited well last season at oline but prior to that we did not and it’s showing big time now.
After what happened to him at OU, I doubt he'd have the heart to do that to a friend. Admirable, but it might cost him if this season ends poorly. He won at UCF with Frost's recruits and '22 was greatly aided by Pruitt recruits. We're about to find out if Heupel can build an SEC roster with his recruits and develop/win with them. Elarbee might turn out to be the albatross that is his undoing at UT. Hope not. Really like the guy as a person.

It’s looking like Josh heupel will always be good for at least 1 loss of a game he’s not supposed to lose. This means it will always be an uphill battle…every season. And if there’s another thing I know as indisputable fact…it’s this…the committee will *never* do us any favors.

couple that with the fact that his aw shucks nice guy approach to everything is gonna be his undoing. His refusal to make staff adjustments is ultimately what is gonna cost him his job.

I’m getting sick of this argument. Kiffin is at Ole miss. Ole Miss. they are happy to be 8-4. Ole miss is not even in the same league as Tennessee and the fact that he has the talent there he does, and had them in the top 10 last couple years is more impressive than Heupel to this point.

Not to be a contrarian in here but the 1998 season on paper looked like dog **** too for most of the season if you're going go be turning our wins into moral "losses" the games are almost identical especially 1998 uf and tonight
The 98 gatas would crush the 2024 gatas. Not even close

That last statement is pure BS considering what Heupel inherited here

He has just got a little to predictable at times it seems and way more cautious than when Hendon was the QB. I think it is a trust thing in the end.

You gotta admit one thing…these threads are mildly entertaining. Lots of silliness going on. I guess it’s just venting frustration so I get it. We may not finish the season ranked…IDK…but I’m sure enjoying this ride a lot more than I did the last 15 years. I too happen to believe some level of malcontent helps keep us grounded. Kinda like Rick Barnes said recently…he doesn’t like to compliment to much…it can lead to overconfidence 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️.

That’s far from a terrib

if you can look at last night and still call Florida a terrible team, Josh Heupel wants to have a word with you.
These people absolutely refuse to change a narrative once they swallow it.
There is no getting better
There is no allowing for injury or road game or just simply human w error.

Read through some of their posts
Hell, most still think Bama is the juggernaut of the last 15 years and Kirby can't be beat

Agree, Elarbee sucks!!!

I don't hate him. I like him a lot actually. The problem with Heupel is he is billed as an offensive genious and a scoring juggernaut of a coach. Aside from his season with Hooker, that all looks like a farce and as much as people want to disagree, I think the majority of why it has looked as stagnant as it has is the absence of Golesh. The more time passes the more I am convinced it was him running that offense and not Heupel. We need more variation to our offensive scheme. It is too predictable. I find very few differences between this offense Heupel has ran for the past 2 seasons and any that Butch Jones ran...and these Tennessee teams have a ton more talent than the Jones' teams in my opinion.

Well said, same goes for me. I think we’re all confused by what we are seeing.

Heupel is fine, you simply cannot be a decent offense with Terrible QB play. Look at Oklahoma, Michigan etc…

Atleast he was aggressive in play calling, Nico just can’t make the throws and looks like the next DJ U type of QB bust

I really like Coach Huepel, but he has things to improve on as well as the team. His clock management the past two games leaves me scratching my head. I dont see us making that many adjustments at the half. The play calling is another thing that I dont understand, but then I am not the coach. I hope Coach Huepel improves, but as of yet I have to wonder if he can match schemes with the best heads in college football.

Way too early to begin calling someone a bust. I’m glad my parents didn’t call me a bust at 5-years-old, because I heard I was a tough kid to be around.
