Heupel is Figured Out

A piddling Gamecock team figured out the recipe to beat Tennessee. They hung their corners 10 yards back and never let the Vol receivers get behind them. The fact about this offense is it's not designed to put up long, sustained drives. Gamecocks gave up the short ball all day and Heupel's offense just isn't built to take advantage of that. SC had nothing to lose taking a risk like that on D and it paid off in a big way. You beat this offense by hanging your corners back.

Make no mistake, this game is on the defense, but don't let that distract you from what happened on offense. That Gamecock defense was one of the worst in the SEC with multiple injuries. Any other SEC team is going to watch how they handled the Vol offense and just execute that formula better. Heupel needs to address that in his scheme or teams will have him figured out real soon.
Pretty stupid post.
The defense sucked. Could not stop SC at all kept the ball out of the offense hands to much.
Still scored 38 which should be enough to beat them

We gave up 63 points to one of the worst offenses in the country. Nobody would have seen that coming. I still can’t wrap my head around it
I agree that no one saw them hanging 63 on us, but we have seen this coming as far as being scored on. Just look at the Florida game where they went for it on every 4th down...I think one was 4th and 8 yards...and they made it every time if I'm not mistaken. The Florida game exposed us and gave the league the secrete to beating us ( just throw the ball a lot ). Bama used this approach and almost won, and Georgia used it as well. But yesterday seemed like no one was even trying to win on defense.

Offense wasn't the issue, defense gave up a **** ton of yards and a **** ton of points, they couldn't get off the field which led to the O to stay on the sideline. 38 points should've beat that SC team they are terrible, but our defense is garbage especially in the secondary so they looked like world beaters...oh well🍊

JH will win 10 and possibly 11 games this season without a Defense to speak of and mostly in the SEC. I still believe the future is BRIGHT. Hit the portal hard and find another Hooker before next season though. D portal goes without saying.

We scored plenty enough points to win on the road. This was on the defense and that ain’t on Heup. (Unless he refuses to fix it, then it IS on him)

Exactly. If JH doesn't make changes to the Defensive staff; he will NEVER field a championship team. This Staff is Horrendous. STOLE a shot at the Heistman from Hooker.

Clearly you haven't figured it out...

As I said, defense was THE problem. I'm saying not to overlook how SC exposed Tennessee's offense from a schematic standpoint. They defended it the best they could with a rag tag defense.

Please stop digging.

CJH is doing miracles with the talent disparity against most of our peers. But we have serious talent shortcomings in the defensive secondary that must be shored up.

Team was not ready this week, maybe they had visions of CFPs dancing in their head. Let's see how they rebound next week.

Time of possession normally doesn't matter for us except when we are behind and the only way we get the other offense off the field is after they score! 22 minutes to 38.

Hype has been running this offense for years, and it still works, we had a bad game plan.

Rattler threw it straight and on the money all night long and his receivers dropped very few! He had plenty time to throw and throw he did! That was an ALL WORLD performance by a QB who had done practically nothing until last night! Our defense was its usual self but no one could have stopped that performance we saw last night. Hats off the Rattler!

Hooker was really off too. Then let's not forget the turf monster. Don't quite get what the OP is saying.

I agree Hooker was a little off. And we still throw up huge numbers.

The only one to figure this O out is Georgia and that is because they have the players to do it. Only a few teams would ever have the talent needed.

We would beat the same SC team 8 out of 10 times. We can’t play any worse on defense. Their quarterback had the game of his life and will not do that again. Offense scored 38 points which should have won the game. Your post is bush league at best. You have no clue about football.

The same Maryland team that scored 30 against Ohio State yesterday didn’t score the week before against Penn State. It’s called college football. We got out coached and played in the game yesterday. It happens. But I would take Coach Heupel over Bush League Beamer everyday of the week and twice on Sundays. Try to learn the game before posting a stupid thought that goes through your tiny head.

get real...500 yds and 38 points....should never lose those games

Figured out? I saw a versatile offense that adjusted to a shorter game, and still put up 500 yards...just shows there's not a good way to totally shut it down...38 points wins almost every game...unless you give up 63!!
