Well, lets look a that. He recruited a running back who broke all of Tennessee running TDs records and was the SEC's offensive player of he year in 2024, and was an All American. Seems like Sampson was a pretty good recruit.

Baseball players aren't nearly as athletic as football players. It's way easier to be elite in baseball than it is to be elite in football

History has shown that this country has only enough elite players to go around for three to four teams to be the elite teams that actually win the playoffs. Those three to four teams have changed throughout the years. Oregon and Texas have now bumped Alabama and Clemson off the perch. For Tennessee to become one of the four they are going to have to recruit/paoch players away from Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon and Texas. I really don't see that happening. When we were one of them in the 90s we were getting players from Georgia and Ohio. But that dried up long ago. Might need to be content being second level.
