Heupel's Monday Presser

God you guys are depressing, It's almost like you are going back to that put a gun to his head and if he doesn't win this or that then fire his ass and get another crappy coach, This fanbase has almost been the death of UT football...We FINALLY have a coach who cares about this program and its traditions and honestly is the best thing to happen to us in a long long time and it really bugs me that some of you are already on the brink of calling for his head...Teams are gonna lose games, It happens and nobody likes it and sometimes coaches have to make changes, It happens...For the love of god please leave this one alone and let him fix things his way

Oh, you don't eh? Go 5-7 and show no upward movement towards 2025? White would have no choice, or he'd be out too. The NIL thing and Portal has changed everything, WIN NOW.
Calm down, lots of season left to even be speculating. We lost 1 game, we are coming off a 11-2 season and a Orange Bowl win. Get behind the team and give the staff and team a chance to turn this around before your firing Heupel and the best AD we have ever had. Good grief, remember what Heupel inherited. GBO

Anyone that is even considering turning their back on him please go cheer for another team immediately. Y’all want Kiffin back where he’s putting up pics of Reggie Bush in the locker room?

Totally agree. He made his seat warm last Saturday night. He's another game like that next season and gone.
Not a chance. If this season completely emplodes and then he has another game like that next year, then there will be seriou soul searching.

Take the glasses off, Slice. You're an intelligent VFL. So look at this through intelligent eyes.

UT overachieved last year. This year, existing flaws are being exposed. Halzle replaced Golesh. One step back. Milton replaced Hooker. One, maybe two, and maybe three steps back. Cannon arm ain't no good if there's no one wearing your jersey on the other end, right?

Defense? Banks is in Year 3, and the defense is not much better than Year 1 or 2. Martinez is possibly the worst DB coach UT has ever seen. And there are a couple of absolute idiots in the UT secondary....I won't mention any names, but the initials of one of them is "Hadden", who should never see the field again unless they land a spot on the band.

The UT team that got embarrassed in Gainesville? Yeah, that's a 7-5 team. They already have 1 loss, and I can find 3 more without even thinking about it. I'll go with Bama, UGA, and USCe or TXAM. Maybe both. Oh, and we play both UK and Mizzou on the road.

Heupel is a good coach. He proved that last year. In time, he might be a great one. But he has his work cut out for him this year, and it starts by hiring coaches who can take you where you want to go. IMO, Banks and Martinez don't make the cut.

I seriously doubt if any coaching changes are made in-season. So unless the coaching improves, especially on defense (I'll take "Not Much of a Chance for $1000, Alex), this is a 7-5 team, plus or minus 1.

Old rule: Be loyal to the guy that signs your paycheck. UT signs Coach Heupel's paychecks, and they're big ones.

Time for him to make some hard decisions.

Go Vols.

Agreed. Can he make the adjustments that put us back on an upward trajectory? How does he repond to adversity?

We’re just not a good football team right now. Coach’s demeanor looks a bit demoralized. Kinda like the rest of us.

Funny thing is on one hand I was and still on the “I’ll believe it when I see it” bandwagon regarding beating Florida in Gainesville. Or at all for that matter. And that’s because of the 30+ years that I’ve been watching and can’t get my head around the mental block our Big Orange has against the Gators regardless.

However, I also remember many seasons turning out incredibly well, even after a loss to Florida despite the moanings and groanings of our annual embarrassment.

Keep you chins up, Volunteers. There is much left to accompish.

National championship type As don’t become pussies after losing one game.
That’s just moronic nonsense

There's the problem. Name the "National Championship Type A's" on this roster.

Mind you, you've gotta back the name with the stats to support your position.

I'll hang up and listen.

Go Vols.

You seem to want to address anything except the post you quoted to start this conversation.

It was said that CJH looked defeated. He didn’t. He looks pissed off. The guy is a competitor. Extremely competitive in almost every aspect of his life. One bad loss doesn’t make a guy like that want to quit. It makes them want to prove you wrong.

Did you see his Monday presser? He’s answering questions before they’re finished and being snippy about it. He’s pissed and can’t wait to get after it.

We are 2-1 and 3 games into the season and a segment on here are ready to put Heupel on the hot seat which is ludicrous. Now he may make position changes at the end of the year, but I highly doubt and probably wouldn’t be a very bright idea during the season. Everybody has there opinion but at this point there is a lot of football to be played and now isn’t the time for crying about coaches. I have faith that Heupel and staff can get us going, he can make input to how he wants it done the rest of this year. He could switch coaches to different areas. Just saying the read coach has the final say over all his coaches. GBO

Your right on the money there. There was nothing defeated about his look at all.
