Hey alleged Christians ....

Show me where I have said that any man "knows" the entire Bible and God's meaning behind every word.

The Bible tells us that God's ways are not our ways and that a saved person is gifted with the Holy Spirit to help him gain an understanding of the scriptures.

What else you want to "know"?

Ah, so accepting Jesus grants you insight? I don't see the logic in that. Is the Holy Spirit a literary tutor with a PhD?

Well, look at the post I quoted. You don't think it's better to vote for someone based on what issues they seek to take care of first or how they intend to solve those problems rather than what banner they fly?

If you look hard enough your gonna find ideologies. You pick what you like and move on. Not sure I buy that career politicians are not driven buy ideology.

I generally agree with this but the banner is important too. For example, I'd hold my nose and vote for an R I don't agree with if it prevented D control of 2 branches of govt. even if I was cool with the D candidate. Since the politicians align under and move with the banner, it has to be a consideration.

Totally see your point, but you and I both know that a ton of voters don't take the balance of power into consideration. You have people who always vote R and those who always vote D.

If you believe what the Bible says, which you do not. I am not playing this game with you. Have a great day.
(I know.....I know......you will say that I am dodging the debate, but guess what, the Bible tells me to do that also when it is warranted.)

There's some of that there logic stuff. If you're not willing to "play this game" (backing up what you say in a thread related to your book's words), then you probably shouldn't have posted here in the first place. It's kind of silly if you ask me.

Try to forget the government angle and focus on this:

1. Perry and Bachmann say that they are Christian conservatives and that is why Republicans should vote for them.

2. Both advocate social constructs that promote accumulation and maintenance of wealth.

Both are clowns, end of story

Well, if you are wrong about what seem to be fairly categorical statements you wouldn't be the first Christian to manipulate what is right in front of him to justify what you really want to do.

nice deflection

I'm wrong that the Bible says to focus your life on helping the needy and the poor rather than accumulation of wealth, and that in fact accumulation of wealth is a sign that you have gone astray, and that at some point you should give away such wealth to the poor and re-dedicate yourself to the less fortunate?

Absolutely...............you,miss entire message of christ

That you do not have a choice?

That accepting the existence of something allows you to gain a better understanding of a book.

I felt I had a pretty good understand of The Lord of the Rings by the time I'd finished reading the series when I was younger. Could someone who actually believed in the existence of orcs, elves, and wizards automatically understand that book more than I ever could have?

Nope.

Or be like oe and not vote for either

If I disliked math in school (which I did) my understanding is gonna be limited. (which it was)

I had a guy once tell me he would never get very far with understanding the Bible due to its rules. Basically he didn't agree with have rules to live by. This may not be the case with everybody but it fits here.
