Ya see people, the OP gets it! Why cant all of you sunshine pumpers?! You obviously have 2 sides here..people that aren't happy with Jones and Co so far and those that start to cry and coddle Jones and Co when somebody says something negative. THERE ISNT A WINNING SIDE! We are who we are people...you wanna bit c h and moan and vent...go ahead! You wanna paint flowers and rainbows singing we are the world...go ahead!
Did you actually read the OP in any of those threads you linked? I clicked on the first three of those links and nowhere did I see anyone say "coaches aren't accountable for what happens on the field". I'm not going to bother clicking on the rest but feel free to paste a quote if you can find one. Also, please post a couple for me that say it's "ridiculous to ever criticize coaches" because I'd like to jump in that discussion also.
And just to be clear, I don't agree with any threads which state coaches aren't accountable and shouldn't be critiqued any more than I agree with silly call out threads like yours.
You keep referring to your point in the OP, and I'm not sure what the point of the thread is, that's why I've asked you numerous times now. It's obviously my fault for assuming you had a point aside from asking Vol fans to speak on behalf of every other fan base in the country.
Based on this post I thought maybe you wanted to discuss some of your concerns, but again, my fault for assuming. This is strictly a coach worshipper call out thread so let's stay on track. I get it.
So, now that I realize your question wasn't rhetorical, would you like a full list of every Division I team whose fan bases would be pleased, or are we just talking BCS teams? Because if you want legitimate answer then, by all means, let's make a list. Better yet, you give us your list and we will let you know whether or not we agree. That seems fair. It would surely get the specific answer to your OP that you are so desperately yearning for.
Once you post your list, as a full-fledged coach worshipper, I will be sure to respond, since that's the intent of the thread and all.
Yes, I would like a list. I would like a list of every "major program" (you consider Western Kentucky a major program on par with Tennessee and other BCS schools? Interesting. I guess we should pay our coaches and staff on par with them and adjust our prices accordingly?) whose fans would be happy with barely beating S. Alabama. I asked for this solely because of the numerous threads on here stating how irrational our fans were for being upset by that performance. That has been the sole purpose of this thread and I made that quite clear in the OP. And for all of your mockery, I'm still waiting...
Why on earth would I even try to voice my concerns on here, when a request as simple as that is the source of such willful incomprehension? Why would anyone try to have a legitimate logical discussion when any statement on here that even suggests holding coaches accountable immediately produces a chorus of "it's ridiculous that you want to fire Butch Jones after 5 games" and the like?

If you re-read my post, I asked you to provide a list and all of us coach worshippers will give you feedback on whether we agree. That seems fair.
But it's evident you're obviously really just wanting to whine and argue and you are not wanting to discuss anything of merit, so I'll bite. Here's my list.
1.
There you go. That's my list of every major college program who would be happy with that second half performance on Saturday. I answered your question. Your move. And go ahead and post your list so we can compare notes and stuff. Because this is a list thread and we need more lists.
As for the rest of your post, you include "coach worshippers" in your thread title and you accuse me of mockery? Gold!
And you keep trying to twist words, I didn't say Western Kentucky was on par with Tennessee. You might want to lighten up and notice the laughing smiley.
Willful incomprehension? I think it may be you that is suffering from willful incomprehension. I've seen plenty of threads critiquing the staff that were met with agreement and back and forth discussion. Maybe the fact that you aren't having the same success says something about your tone and the way you present your question. But I'm sure you know this already.
I've offered to have "legitimate and logical discussion" with you, that's been my goal of posting in your thread, but you've made it clear time and time again that you aren't interested.
And by asking why anyone would attempt legitimate discussion is an admission that your thread isn't such an attempt, so I've obviously been wasting my time. If you prefer I can merge your thread with some of the other threads which you mock, so you guys can refuse to have legitimate discussions together.
:hi:
Have you ever posted on a message board before? You do realize in a discussion you can alter slightly from the OP as the discussion evolves. It's not illegal to ask follow up questions in a discussion.I don't have a list. Where did I ever suggest I did have a list? I asked for a list in the OP.
Obviously, no major programs' fanbase would be happy with what we saw last Saturday. But, I figured the folks starting threads to call everyone who was upset by the performance "simpletons" or "the most irrational fanbase" must have some other evidence.
That was the whole point of this thread. I don't understand why you continue to insist that it was otherwise.
As for the legitimate and logical discussion, I will move that over to this thread, since that is where the OP actually asked for it. It is interesting how many of the replies to that thread are also of the "Yes let's go ahead and fire Butch and start all over once again " and "Where were you AD? Where did you coach?" variety.

You and these links. Against my better judgment I clicked on both. I assume you read them? Both say some need to adjust expectations. Neither say anything about not holding coaches accountable or being happy with our performance.
I'm not insisting on anything. I've been asking. I've answered your question, now what? I thought there might be a point. And if your point was to call out two posters out of thousands, why not just post in those threads?
Again, I can't help you with the responses of a couple of posters in a couple of other threads among hundreds. Again, I suggest you post in those threads if you are looking for answers from those two specific posters.
For the last time, you've been given to ample number of chances to prove you are interested in discussion and you aren't. You are in the same category as those you mock.
Good day.
I tried to answer your follow up question here. You deemed it "vague". Since it was already quite sufficiently wordy, I decided it best not to continue to derail the thread in that manner. I mean, I'm no expert on how messageboards work, but if 100 words is too "vague", I didn't think it worth the effort to flesh it out further in a thread that wasn't about specific criticism, but rather directed at those who insult any attempt at criticism.
Both threads mock the notion of anyone expressing displeasure at the performance. You really think I'm reading something in them that isn't there? Really?
But I guess it's much less of a leap to assume that I want to fire a coach just because I think he should be held accountable for how the team performs.
And there were plenty more than 2. I assumed you didn't need me to link to every single one of them?
I don't recall asking you to help me with anything. It's just odd to me that it's cool to start a thread calling everyone a simpleton who wasn't happy with the S. Alabama game, but I need to somehow defend myself for calling those posters out.
Just to rehash: you started a thread which you don't expect people to respond? If you want to mock others without response a message board may not be for you. I'd suggest a blog maybe.
As a coach worshipper, I thought your thread was addressed to me. If you only want the two posters you linked to respond, maybe you should include their names in the title or make that more clear in the OP, or something.
Ya see people, the OP gets it! Why cant all of you sunshine pumpers?! I never said I didn't want people to respond. On the contrary, I've responded to my detractors here alot more than most of the posters who start threads calling out and insulting anyone who criticizes the coaches.
I'm sorry you thought I was referring to you specifically when I said "coach worshippers". I thought maybe the first sentence of my original post would clarify further, but then maybe you're also in the camp that think any fan who holds a coach accountable for the team's performance is "crazy" or "irrational"?
Well, perhaps, next time I will use a more appropriate title for all the posters who start threads on here to attack anyone who has anything negative to say about the coaching. I have some ideas myself , but maybe you would care to suggest one?
