Hey Obama, look up in the Sky!!! Pathetic but Funny.

Judging from this post, I am just going to go out on a limb here and say that you haven't read his books.

I don't agree with a lot of things the guy has been doing thusfar, but he doesn't hate America.

Evidently you haven't read his books either.

I wonder if you had ever sat through one of the sermons of Barry's pastor that he and Michelle sat through for twenty years with his 'damn America' rhetoric you would still have the same opinion.

What do you agree with that he has done so far???

I don't think we are talking about Rev. Wright's books now are we?

Thank you for your patience, in answer to your question, I am actually, due to my antiquated hardware and software, incapable of downloading the actual youtube footage, I'm hoping a switch to unbuntu will solve some of those problems.

But since you have informed me, don't you think it would have been nice if Barry had mentioned the young Turks were inspired by the American revolution when they through off the harsh yoke of islam when they formed the new Turkish government, rather than pandering to muslim tradition.

So, in other words you had no idea what you were talking about. Nice job attempting to change the subject to deflect attention from the uniformed nonsense you spouted in the first place.

Wright's black liberation theology rhetoric is little different from Obama's books, as a matter of fact one to the titles of one of Barry's books is taken directly from a Wright sermon. (BTW, black liberation theology, while falsely claiming to be Christian in nature, is every bit, maybe even more so, racist and hateful as anything every spewed out by the KKK.)

Have you ever read one of Obama's books???

What is your opinion of statements found in his books such as;

(referring to the study of Malcom X) "I came to the conclusion that some whites could live at peace with blacks under islam."

"My proudest moment was when my (half) brother converted to islam."

So, in other words you had no idea what you were talking about. Nice job attempting to change the subject to deflect attention from the uniformed nonsense you spouted in the first place.

I saw the flinch on TV without the music, I got the impression Barry put his hand on his heart to see if he had had a heart attack rather than for respect to our flag. From the expression on his face it looked like he may have stained his pants.

Do you speak any Austrian???

Is putting your hand over your heart during the anthem honestly something that is rude not to do? I always take off my ball cap, but I usually put my hands behind my back. If their is a pledge, then I put my hand over my heart. But, are you really supposed to for the anthem as well?

Tell you what gs, you come up with accurate quotes from the book, and I will comment on them. I have both of his books here, at least one (and I am pretty sure both) of those quotes is not even close to what was actually written.

Edit: I have now managed to find both of them. Now why don't you give it a try?

No, you don't have to and pretty much everyone knows that. Pledge of Allegiance, on the other hand, it is much more appropriate/required to put your hand over your heart. Usually if I have a hat, then I put it over my heart, but otherwise I put my hands behind my back...

But keep in mind that we are attempting to argue/refute with people that continue to include Hussein into Pres. Obama's name (and it isn't because they want to make sure we know which Barack Obama they are referring to)....

What happened when WE criticized the government and Bush's policies over the past 8 years? Words like Un-American and Unpatriotic were thrown around pretty loosely... Funny how things change when someone that they disagree with becomes President....

I hate both parties equally because either believe government in the answer to our problems.

We would be better off with street whores or primates running our political offices.

He was clearly talking about both books.... I have read both books; obviously don't remember every word from the book but can say with confidence that the second quote is not true (then one with him being happy his step brother became a Muslim) and if the first quote is in the book then it was used in a broader context discussing his experience with Race relations being from a mixed ancestry.... I highly doubt either are exact quotes though. Why did you use them if you weren't certain? Does truth or personal agenda fuel your posts?

You are the king of copy and paste, why don't you find them and give that right mouse button a workout? I would think that someone so interested in the truth would want to make sure he corrected obvious errors he had made.

I have had this discussion with you before, posting quotes listing quotes, names of the book and the pages referenced.

If you would label me 'king of copy and paste' the let me label you 'king of denial.'

I like the way you made corrections to your assertions about Obama's Kenyan politics, NOT.

“Malcolm’s discovery toward the end of his life, that some whites might live beside him as brothers in Islam, seemed to offer some hope of eventual reconciliation.”

“The person who made me proudest of all was Roy. Actually, now we call him Abongo, his Luo name, for two years ago he decided to reassert his African heritage. He converted to Islam, and has sworn off pork and tobacco and alcohol.”

I assume these are the quotes you are talking about. Once again gs, you have shown that you either 1) lack the ability to comprehend what you read, 2) are an out and out liar, or 3) both of the above.

By the way, YOU are the one who would never relent on the Odingo MoU even after I presented evidence that shot your whole copy and paste, wingnut bs down. In other words, eat it.

The part in bold is the only part I have a problem with. What does African heritage and Islam have to do with each other? Very few Africans were Muslims until say around 100 years ago.

true

Edit: If it had been my intent to do so this would have been a perfect "bait" question in a discussion of Obama and his hotly debated religious leanings.

A difference might be the fact that his African heritage is tied to that more recent period of Islamic and African fusion - particularly in Kenya. It is different than an African American whose ancestors have been in the US for over 250 years, wouldn't you think?

yes it would. I guess my trouble with the African heritage/ Islam thing is that Africa (as a continent) had very diverse cultures as a whole at one time. Even during the time when there was strong European influence there the culture was not lost. If you look at those countries with strong Islamic influence today (particularly in the northeastern countries), the Muslim influence seems to have stifled much of that diversity. Though many of the nations were poor in the economic sense, they were rich in culture, which has been lost for the most part. It just seems to me that Islam has corrupted what i considered to be a very interesting part of the world and turned it into something very ugly IMO. I guess I just don't understand why African heritage and Islam seem to go hand in hand there. In particular I don't understand why so many African Americans would turn to Islam, considering their contribution to slavery and history of enslaving those of African heritage through history.

I was always a civilization buff, particularly ancient civilization. Africa and South America were always of great interest to me along with parts of Asia.

Islam seems to be very good at suppressing culture, IMO. I don't know a lot about it - but the power of the religious leaders seems to have a way of doing that....

It would have.

However, I think the debate on his religious leanings is all but dead.

I'm sure there are some that would want to dredge it up. If it isn't dead it should be. No matter what you believe about his past it doesn't matter, he is the president.

Yep. Hell, at this point I am not even so keen on defending him as much as exposing certain wingnuts, again.
