Highest decibel level ever?????

We did not even come close to the record last night. The fluctuating noise meter on the jumbotron is just for show and is not an actual measurement of how loud it is inside Neyland stadium. Everyone needs to ignore that meter from now on.

Fans in Neyland stadium set the NCAA all time stadium noise record of 137db last year during the Georgia game. Here's a link:

Tennessee breaks decibel record as Neyland Stadium roars against Georgia

I was at the UGA game when that happened. There was a couple of times in the game Saturday where it was THAT LOUD.

It sounded off the charts on tv, can’t imagine what it was like live. I was at the Georgia game last year when the record was set…it was definitely LOUD

09 SC game on Halloween was the loudest game in person for me. We busted out the black jerseys and dominated them for 4 quarters. Probably not a record setter but it was LOUD as hell in Neyland that night

They took about 4K seats out under Hamilton I believe. Just can’t reach 137 with 4K less max seats.

Loudest moment for me was the 01 UGA game. Travis Stephens took a screen pass to the house. Rockin....still lost.

Loudest game was vs Cal....Meachem

I don’t care what the official says…2015 OU was pretty loud, BUT! The 98 Arkansas game was deafening when Cheese scored to win the game. It was so loud, it was like things went silent for a few minutes and you could feel the stadium shaking. And that’s being soaking wet as well.

I was at 2016 Florida and didn’t think it was impressively loud. Maybe it was just where I was sitting but I had been at louder games than that.

One that gets forgotten a little bit because we lost and the team wasn’t very good was 2013 Georgia. I had legit hearing issues after that game for a few days.
Is that the game where pig fumbled diving in the end zone? We lost on a field goal I think. I was there too

I've beaten this dead horse many times, back when the upper deck sat down and stomped their feet-- that echo made it the loudest I've ever heard Neyland. I was below them for the Bama game in the early 90s and I could not hear the person next to me. Never heard the PA announcer either.

I wish people hadn't stopped doing that. For some reason they think silently standing up and clapping a little is better
Try and get it started again?

The loudest? My money is on the 98 FL game where Al Wilson caused, then recovered, the fumble on the goal line and later when FL missed the field goal…107,000 people at that game screaming like rabid orange banshees…it was awesome…I still think the cbs camera is in the SAE house, lol.

Kalen DeBoer said he wasn’t worried about the noise and that it wouldn’t be a factor. He said he coached at Washington and that was the loudest. I listened to his postgame presser, and he still wouldn’t admit noise played a factor. He blamed it on his own team’s execution even when multiple Alabama players said the noise was a huge factor.

Can you imagine a coach who blames his own players even when the evidence overwhelmingly points to something else?

The official record is Georgia 2023 - maybe when Jaylen Wright ran the opening play in for a touchdown? But for my money Oklahoma 2015 was louder. I know, the screen said Georgia set the record ... if that's true then it had to come early considering how uncompetitive that game was. But OU 2015 was something I've never experienced since. Don't get me wrong, the home crowds are fire all season these days. Tennessee fans are hungry for it now and come ready to feast.
I was there in 2015. We set a record that day for sure. I'm known to be a pretty loud person and i couldn't hear myself. GBO!

He actually didn't say that

I believe the highest Saturday was 128.
You are correct. Accurate or not, I saw the Jumbotron meter bounce up to 129 briefly and hovered around 128.5-9 several times. That’s loud. I don’t doubt the people saying otherwise, but to be fair, they must have gotten a bum section. I couldn’t hear my own self cheering. And we had a mix of young and old money around us, and the environment was WILD and so much fun! It’s painting with an unfairly broad brush to make generalized statements that “blue hairs” and “expensive seats” are causing a quiet stadium.

2 loudest I’ve been to were 2016 Florida and 2015 Oklahoma.
2015 Oklahoma was very loud. I was on the field for that game, I remember the student section in the stadium singing rocky top over a hour before kick off. My family that was in from Ok was shocked at the loud and excited crowd. One put in ear plugs that was in the OU team first aid kit.
