Highest decibel level ever?????

You are correct. Accurate or not, I saw the Jumbotron meter bounce up to 129 briefly and hovered around 128.5-9 several times. That’s loud. I don’t doubt the people saying otherwise, but to be fair, they must have gotten a bum section. I couldn’t hear my own self cheering. And we had a mix of young and old money around us, and the environment was WILD and so much fun! It’s painting with an unfairly broad brush to make generalized statements that “blue hairs” and “expensive seats” are causing a quiet stadium.
By and large those are the demographics that don’t yell. But I’ll give them credit my dad said even on the lower west side that people were losing their minds. And I believe him he sounds like he’s been mustard gassed

Without a doubt 2015 OU was the loudest I have ever been to. 2024 and 2022 bama were both similar but credit our fans it was crazy loud for most of the game. I couldn’t hear myself think the first drive for bama or the whole 4Q

I knew the record was somewhere in the 130s and I didn’t see it hit 130, at least when I was looking. I often saw it in the 127 and 128 range…..like, very often throughout the game whenever we were on defense. I don’t know how on Earth the difference could be that much. It was the loudest game I’ve personally attended. My ears were ringing on multiple occasions. At least in my section - W.
We even had some bleacher stomping and banging around me. Nobody sat. Nobody.
I watched on TV, even there you could tell it was crazy loud. Was proud of those in attendance. There was shots of a lot of people shaking pompoms and not yelling though. Maybe they made the difference lol

Mustard gassed—hahaha! That made me chuckle. We aren’t in Lower West club, but we were in the lower west side a few rows back from the walkway that separates that lower section from the lowest section where the premium seats are. I wound up completely losing my voice and it’s still gone today. I mean completely gone. I’m talking to my family via text. Hard to keep rowdy boys in line with only the written word. ☺️

The official record is Georgia 2023 - maybe when Jaylen Wright ran the opening play in for a touchdown? But for my money Oklahoma 2015 was louder. I know, the screen said Georgia set the record ... if that's true then it had to come early considering how uncompetitive that game was. But OU 2015 was something I've never experienced since. Don't get me wrong, the home crowds are fire all season these days. Tennessee fans are hungry for it now and come ready to feast.
OU game has been my personal standard bearer regardless of what the measurements say. Saturday was damn close on several occasions. The first play of their 2nd to last series (when we stopped them on 4th and 22) was insane. I got light headed and thought I was going to fall over from yelling so loud. Had to sit down for a play before I fell from the upper deck 😂.

You are hogwash, my son has video of it! Fact!
So, your son took a video of the crown around you being completely silent for the entire game. How big of an SD card does he have? Maybe at a given moment, but it was so loud on TV that you could barely hear the announcers, and the ref was completely covered up on multiple occasions.

As others have mentioned, the reading on the big TV is probably just for show but don't know for sure.

Has UT even had decibel readers at every game over the years? Seems like there is a degree of consistency about the Oklahoma game but maybe there wasn't one there? Would be cool if they put out a top ten loudest games like they list attendance rankings. Neyland is worthy of such a list.

I know it was loud, I just said it would be much louder if some fans would yell, and a lot of them don't.

Before we had to give up our seats (Z11) in '21, it was frustrating how many fans in our section weren't involved. It's their ticket so they can do whatever they want. I just don't understand being idle when as a fan you can have a significant impact on a game.

All I know is my ears are still ringing today! It showed 126 at one point but didn't show what the levels were at the end of the game, that might have been louder.
