Last Saturday was our first day of fishing in Alaska (also my first trip there). My old buddy, whose friend took us out, baited the first rod and handed it to me. Within minutes after dropping my line I hooked this 100-lb halibut. We had four fishermen counting me & my son, and limited out with 8 of the flatfish in about 3 hours. That first one was the biggest of the day. All told we harvested 160 lbs worth in filets and I brought about 50 lbs back in a cooler.

Within minutes after dropping my line I hooked this 100-lb halibut. We had four fishermen counting me & my son, and limited out with 8 of the flatfish in about 3 hours. That first one was the biggest of the day. All told we harvested 160 lbs worth in filets and I brought about 50 lbs back in a cooler.

So we put in at greenway farm in Hixson and drifted down to the damn. Then went back upstream but due to down trees we didn’t quite make it to creeks bend golf course
