Hit me with some mind blowing facts

It’s a very cool story though. The New Madrid (pronounced MAD-rid) fault is Memphis’s ticking time bomb.
Yep. If that intense of a quake happened today, Memphis would be leveled.

I did feel a few in Memphis, including while the final episode of Dallas was airing.

The guys who bought my mom’s house in East Memphis were determined to update it but preserve its Memphis mid-century (think Cherry Road) vibe, but it couldn’t pass the new earthquake codes.

Down it went, with a semi-faithful-slant-Pseudor-Tudor replacement.

At Earth's equator, the speed of Earth's spin is about 1,000 miles per hour (1,600 km per hour).

Our orbital speed around the sun is about 67,000 mph (107,000 km/h), according to Cornell.

The Solar System is traveling at an average speed of 230 km/s (828,000 km/h) or 143 mi/s (514,000 mph) within its trajectory around the Galactic Center.

And how fast is the Milky Way Galaxy moving? The speed turns out to be an astounding 1.3 million miles per hour (2.1 million km/hr)! We are moving roughly in the direction on the sky that is defined by the constellations of Leo and Virgo.
Speed of light is 186,000 miles a second.

The Scottish Highlands and the Appalachians are the same mountain range, once connected as the Central Pangean Mountains. Remnants of this massive mountain range include the Appalachian Mountains of North America, the Little Atlas of Morocco, Ireland, the Scottish Highlands, and part of Greenland and Scandinavia.
LOL, perhaps that is why Ive developed one helluva Scotch and Irish accent (two are opposite). But ive used with real like Scots, and Irish, who cant tell a difference.

Or perhaps it was Braveheart and too much Natural Light ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ebenezer Place in Wick, Scotland holds the world record for the shortest street at 6ft 9 inches in length (2.06 m).

The longest road in the world is the Pan American Highway which begins in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, and stretches all the way down to Ushuaia, Argentina. All in all, the road covers 30,000 km (19,000 miles)
But it is not continuous for that distance. It is broken at the Darien Gap.

may not be mind blowing for some people who lived through it: the first time someone suggested the dinosaurs were killed off by a meteor, in a peer reviewed paper, wasn't until 1980. the exact location in Mexico wasn't found, and the 1980 theory proved until 1990. It wasn't accepted until 1996.

crazy that I was learning about dinosaurs as history was being discovered. and that such a major event wasn't known until just recently.
