Holding my nose and pulling for GA.

I hope TCU wins it all. I’m not worried about us moving up in rankings because it doesn’t matter for next year. Honestly I think Clemson will be a tough game for us to win because we don’t have a quarterback that’s accurate. Bowls are about meaningless now.

I hate Georgia and I resent the Big 10 being thought of as a great conference with only two, maybe three good teams. TCU is irrelevant and shouldn't even be there. I have zero rooting interest in this CFP, so it will be the first one I will skip watching.

UT and Bama falling short makes this thing a walk in the park for Georgia, who I expect to curb stomp both Big 10 teams, which will only be good because of putting the Big 10 in its place. But Georgia fans are insufferable already, and this will only make it worse.

If GA loses our loss to them looks worse, if Bama loses our biggest win gets diminished. GA will recruit like GA next year anyway, and I believe if we finish in the top 3 or 4, the number we put in our press guide, then we should gain credibility vs GA and especially against the rest of the field. I will pull for any scenario that improves our historical ranking. I don't see anybody behind us jumping us IF we win and GA wins. A bama loss could be good for us, maybe insuring #2, so that is in play, but would rather they win and we jump them. Three teams in the top 4 would pretty much insure a better shake for US next year if we are still in this 4 team format and we are in play. Heck, we still have a lot of portal action possible after the bowls and the higher the better.

Our 1-15 record against Alabama has more to do with our recruiting as it relates to them than wether they won or lost their final game of the season. You won't to recruit with Georgia? Beat them. It's not difficult. Winning cures alot of things.

As hard as that is, is it possible that if MICH clobbers TCU, GA has significant wins against OSU and then MICH, that UT and Bama would join GA in the final top 3? If Bama squeaks by and we win big maybe we end up number 2. In this case I believe the end justifies the means.

Just need GA to beat the Big10 guys by more than 14 to make it tough to not drop them. I will also suck it up and pull for SC, 1 because it makes our loss look better and 2 they are playing ND.

If we lose I may have to reassess my position, but doubt it.
WTF?! What does any of that matter? I hope UGA get beat by fiddy.....

Anything after the playoff invitations go out it a waste.
Take the top 10 finish and be glad.

I pull against all SEC teams & teams that recruit our same area one being Clemson. If SEC were to drop in conference peck order I may access differently but right now it’s way ahead of all conferences. Also it really don’t prove anything if one conference has a better Bowl record. It’s about matchups & how motivated a team is that’s dissatisfied playing in their Bowl destination vs a team that’s happy to be there. Also Opt outs etc.. Only winners outside of the final 4 is the Media broadcasting game’s putting Conference records up there trying to generate sports nerd interest in mostly meaningless games outside of rooting for your own team. I have my doubts that some are "fans."

I don't understand the thinking that if you pull for another SEC team in a bowl game then your not a Vol fan. Now I can understand not pulling for rivals but I don't see how a GA loss to a Big10 team helps TN. A TN win in the Orange Bowl will have more effect on the ranking to start next season over a GA win/loss.

A spot or two in the rankings doesn’t mean much to me. My most fervent hope is for us to win the Orange Bowl. My second most fervent hope is for anyone but the insufferable DAAAAWWGS to win the national championship. I don’t often side with my neighbors up here, but I will be yelling “O-H!” as loud as any of them during the Peach Bowl.

I don’t think OSU stands much of a chance, but Michigan looks pretty tough.

I am an SEC homer through and through, I've always championed the concept.

That being said, I can't root for Georgia here. Georgia HAS to start taking a turn in the other direction for us to see success. We were indisputably the second best team in the SEC this year, if it wasn't for Georgia we would have been the best team in the SEC.

Me pulling for any team has zero impact on the outcome.

If I pull against Georgia, Bama, Florida, or anyone else in the SEC, it doesn’t help or hurt them.

We recruit against many SEC teams, so when they win, it affects Tennessee recruiting negatively.

So, therefore, since I hates them, and since I want us to have better players than them, and since I hates them, I root against them.

It’s very satisfying when they lose.

Hate it but you’re right OP

Anything to have UT finish as high as possible is what we are cheering for now.

I agree with part of your post. But no evidence points to it "helping Tennessee" to see your division rivals win a post season game.

Because UGA and their fans are POS. I feel no sense of brotherhood or need to bond with any other SEC fanbase. These are the same fanbases that kicked us while we were down. Now you want to pull for them? Make it make sense. As someone else said, final rankings doesn't matter.
