Holding my nose and pulling for GA.

As hard as that is, is it possible that if MICH clobbers TCU, GA has significant wins against OSU and then MICH, that UT and Bama would join GA in the final top 3? If Bama squeaks by and we win big maybe we end up number 2. In this case I believe the end justifies the means.

Just need GA to beat the Big10 guys by more than 14 to make it tough to not drop them. I will also suck it up and pull for SC, 1 because it makes our loss look better and 2 they are playing ND.

If we lose I may have to reassess my position, but doubt it.

There's no way to make the S.Carol loss to look better. I can't and won't pull for GA, Fla, Ala or S.Carol..

So you rather root for our biggest rivals to win a National Championship in which they would be able to brag about and use against us in recruiting for years and years to come, just so we can finish higher at the end of the year rankings??? That makes no sense my man.

I'm never rooting for UGA in anything.

I hate OSU too but they're not in direct competition with us like UGA is.

Go Buckeyes and whoever else plays UGA.

In a fairy tale this would be the case. But TCU is one and done in the CFP and that one may not be close. They are about to take a huge step up in on field talent they are playing. But you are correct it's the most appealing scenario for us Vols fans

Here’s what I expect:
TCU 13
Michigan 31

OSU 14
UGA 27

What I want;
TCU 31
Michigan 13

OSU 50
UGA 0

If you’re pulling for Georgia, hold your nose and cover your mouth and count to 500.

A Georgia win is NEVER good for Tennessee.
The state of Georgia is our most important recruiting state and UGA is our biggest obstacle in the way of an SECtitle.

Go look at how many guys they signed from their own state this year and get back to me. Why would finishing top 3 not help coach in the living rooms next cycle to get more of those bigtime GA guys that went to places other than GA? Or anywhere else in America?

The MORE back the better when coach goes into the living rooms. We will probably have to join them in the upper reaches before we can pass them, and ironically, they can help us more than they help themselves with the right kind of wins. The loss at SC will pale in comparison to a FINISH above Mich and OSU and TCU if GA can help us pull that off. My love of the VOLS is simply greater than my hate for GA. Do not want to cut off my nose to spite my face.

Do you know who pulls for other teams they play? Fans of ****** teams that live vicariously through the conference. If you pull for a team who has done nothing but talk terribly about your team since beating them in an embarrassing fashion because "It's good for the conference" then you indeed make terrible choices.
What has that rah-rah cheerleader trash gotten you? I don't care that other teams about the SEC being 0-2 in bowl games. Good! When Missouri lost I laughed because it's Missouri. When Florida got the breaks beaten off of them, I swear I felt it quiver with joy.

That "SEC! SEC! SEC!" is nothing more than rubbing another fan's nose in defeat. If you put a red card in the same wallet as the orange card, turn in your orange card.

I hope for only one SEC team to win, everyone else can go get that L and make my year.

I don't understand the thinking that if you pull for another SEC team in a bowl game then your not a Vol fan. Now I can understand not pulling for rivals but I don't see how a GA loss to a Big10 team helps TN. A TN win in the Orange Bowl will have more effect on the ranking to start next season over a GA win/loss.

IMO & it’s just mine. To get back where we want we need to keep winning & UGA has to start losing. The best time to start is now. When we were at our best in 90’s UGA was weak we were getting the better players from Georgia & SC which was the heart of the teams. Thankfully Tennessee is a lot better talent wise in HS than the 90’s so we need to keep the best home. UGA winning it all again just makes that mountain harder to climb. That’s why they just got Miss State& Mizzou best receivers in the portal. Look me or any other pulling for a team will not affect the outcome. I just find it hard to talk to someone that says , hey I wish we were back on top & in the SECC game yearly and that person is cheering for the biggest hurdle to be kept steadily in place. You are still a Vol fan but with a mixed up logic. JMO.

Tell me how UT is advantaged if OSU and Mich end up ranked above GA. Don't see any scenario where we pass GA, even if we win and they lose. They will still have head to head and a loss to a team in the title game is less damaging than our SC loss. If we don't win then there is little value add to them winning and them losing keeps us closer to them, soooooo., hate away. Situational fandom for me. Pulling us up the food chain will drive the doggies nuts. But we have to win to get there.

All this "ifing" is ok. However I would not like to "back into" a high program finish. We and many other followers of the game would know and discount the final placement as just that, a default position. No, somewhere about 7-10 is realistic.

In one year, NOBODY will remember where Tennessee finished in the rankings, including a lot of Georgia fans like yourself on here. If Georgia wins another championship, everyone Tennessee recruits, the transfers, and CFB fans, in general, will remember it. There is zero gain in pulling for rivals that Tennessee competes against, but yeah man, cheer on Georgia to win so Tennessee can maybe be ranked fourth at the end of the season. Solid!

We've had a healthy and friendly rivalry with UGA in many sports for many years, so I have no trouble if the Dawgs win. It's not easy to pull for a team that put us in our place mind you, but my goodness gracious - Dawgs/SEC over any Big 10 team or horny toaded frogs for sure.

It's not about the present it's about the future. We are never going to pass UGA this year. It's about getting UGA down to where they are just not cherry-picking recruits and we are getting Georgia leftovers. That starts with UGA losing not winning another Natty. Look we get Georgia HS players but they're the ones Georgia don't have room for and at best have offered them a preferred walk-on. This year is over ranking wise IMO (we did not get the final 4) why even think about that we will finish 10-3 or 11-2. If you're in top 10 and your main opponent in SEC east loses their last game, you're good for next year but still an uphill climb.

So if GA beats OSU and then Mich in beat downs you don't think we will end up higher in the FINAL polls? Where you end up in the final rankings is the ONLY thing people will remember down the road. Go look up where you were ranked before the final polls for 2017 and see howm many hits that has taken, You really don't think finishing higher in the last polls will not help UT in recruiting in the portal and late signing period and especially next cycle? We could then play the "we were robbed card" with some level of merit if GA pummels them, instead of the Herbie narrative that the Big 10 has surpassed the SEC as the dominant conference just as the polls show. The writers are already working on those accounts. Like I said I will hold my nose and pull for them THIS WEEK, then pull for us and anybody in the conference to put a beat down on them next fall. Or anybody else if it helps us pass them in the history books. I see a lot to gain by finishing way up the polls with guys our staff has targeted to add to our team and GA is the key to get there right now. I don't want to sacrifice those opportunities just hate on GA or any other team. The fact it also bolsters the whole conference is just a bonus.

You've bought in to the ESPN ad execs. Guys how can we get more eyes on these games that are basically meaningless to most of the nation to increase our advertising revenue? Well, we could keep putting Conference records scrolling across the screen and those dumb Hillbillies will start pulling for their conference. HAHA. So basically "Cut off their Nose to spite their face. Let's go with it. So, we got this $$$$$. Cha Ching.

OSU may lose big but I think it's a team with as close to the talent level of UGA as any team in the nation this year
My thought process is this: our offensive line was making first round picks (Anderson, Ojulari) look silly. We struggled against UGA. OSU’s offensive line, meanwhile, couldn’t even line up and blow Northwestern off the ball consistently. They are in trouble unless something has dramatically changed. Stroud is a skilled qb but has no “gamer” energy to him at all. Looks like a scared little kid back there when he starts getting pressured. Compare that to Bryce Young taking sacks and grinning.

OK you all have convinced me. As much as I will have to hold my nose to pull for OSU I can do it. I lived in GA for 3 yrs. and I know first hand how despicable their fans are and winning another Natty would make them more horrible. Just don't care for Big10 teams either.

I would rather sit naked on a hot grill than pull for Georgia, you hear all this “recruits will want to play in the best conference” and all of that BS but we played in the best conference for the last decade plus and have sucked. I will pull for Ohio State, and I will pull for TCU/Michigan if it comes to that.
