That's what I'm questioning. Did Matt Slovin make up the "headline" or was there video and audio to support it? The reason I'm asking is because it isn't in the utsports.com presser and Slovin got fired from a previous job for false reporting. Can anyone post a link to the soundbite?
It was in the post game interview with Doc. It wasn't made up. If the Sportsanimal has it up on site, people can go listen to the interview. The players have no idea what's wrong and the coaches have no idea what's wrong. I have never seen a situation like this and see no hope in it improving anytime soon. I was really looking forward to going to the SEC tourney this year and I've been going longer than some on here have been alive. This is one year I wished I didn't have tickets. I expect attendance to be pretty low. The tourney is always mostly orange but I think many of those will stay home this year. I will be there pulling for the team but it appears that most fans care more about the program than the players do.According to Slovin it was said in the postgame show, I'm assuming with Dearstone. If that's the case the audio must be available somewhere. And if Holly was misquoted or taken out of context, I can't believe she wouldn't be speaking out about such a potentially damaging comment....
has been somewhere between mediocre and bad all year, you are right. But nobody on the team has DD's talent. You need her to play well AND be a positive force on the team--and she's been the opposite from the first game. She chronically dour--or seems so. Don't know why--maturity issue, maybe. Something is off-kilter.
In strictly practical terms, and coaching aside (for a moment), we have a bunch of bad shooters. Fans talk about all our All American prospects. Let's face it--they were all overrated. We are an offensively challenged team. Cooper can take the rock to the basket but has an old-fashioned push shot that's not effective--and so does Reynolds. Russell is Ok but hardly the caliber of the country's no. 1 prospect--too old-school deliberate. Neither she nor Graves, who deserves better than this given her admirable work ethic for four years, can be called a true scorer--not at all. They are big and can each score 10 a game, and rebound, but they can't--and don't--win games for us. Nared has potential but has struggled this year too, like everybody. As bad as our offense is, as much as I complain about our system, whatever it is, our players miss a TON of open shots. They just miss. You can't win games if you can't shoot the basketball. Last year Burdick and Harrison and Massenale made shots. This group could not get the ball in the ocean if they were standing in the surf.
Unlikely she transfers and loses another year of eligibiity; if she has aspirations of a pro-career sitting out another year would not help; she could leave school and play in Europe but I am betting that she stays.
If there are players who are planning on leaving, they should feign injuries and sit out the reaming games so those players who are committed to playing next year can get as much game time as possible.
I usually don't listen to Dearstone's show in the morning, but had to tune in today on the drive in to the office and could not believe how he was throwing the players under the bus left and right, and defending Holly with almost every sentence. Same for Jeff and Heather. They are putting it 100% on the players, and wow do they hate Deshields...wow.
Maybe everyone else already knows all this, but this is the first I've listened to them this year after a loss.
Can not fire Holly right now!!!!!!!! If you fire her she would join the law suit. They would say more proof that women are not treated equally. She also could prove more insider info that could damage the program.
I know everyone is laying this carp on Holly... but man that DD just had a miserable look about her tonight. I think a roster shuffle may be what this team needs. Does not appear that Holly can motivate this bunch... sad to watch. Hell a high school team could hang with this team.
Definitely coaching is part of the problem, but to repeat that old saying, there's no "I" in team-- there seems to quite a few "I's" and not enough playing together as a unit.

Deshields needs to leave, she is killing team chemistry, and plays only for herself.
Now Charlie Creme says a 16-14 UT team will miss tournament.
Tennessee Lady Vols in jeopardy of missing NCAA tournament
Not a smart thing to say.... but then again, Holly always has said the incorrect thing to deflect away from herself
