Holly says the team quit

I just saw her post game interview and I feel bad for her. She already was in the impossible position of following Pat Summit. Now we have the most losses ever in school history and you could see it all over her face. I hope we turn it around and keep Holly Warlick but it's not looking promising :(

I think Holly is right about the team quitting on her. I see no emotion in the players eyes and no "will to win" however, I think that the coaches quit too in a way. NO commitments for next year, no game adjustments, no real game plan, and plenty more. When a team like Tennessee can't get even 1 commitment, then there is a huge problem. Holly and her assistants have to go, there is no other way.

The whole assault suit may provide Holly a stay of execution this year. I doubt Hart wants to add that to the plate.

I'm having trouble with this one. Her poor job performance is overlooked because of alleged sexual assaults in our program? If that is the thought process by Hart he should be fired.

If the team has quit on Holly, as she admits finally, Dave Hart or his replacement has a decision to make: Fire Holly or lose the players?

I vote for the former!

Dave Hart is going to show how unimportant Women's basketball is to the Athletics Dept. He will allow Holly to remain as the coach and next year's team, with no recruits coming in, will be even worse. As a non- revenue generating sport, it's just not important to Hart.

It may not be important to Hart, but it is extremely important to the public. The day they fell out of the top 25 for the first time, it was the huge first page story on the New York Times sports page. I think Lady Vol basketball is more important than many of us think.

I was more surprised that NPR ran the story!

"Doc" can be out there sometimes ... I see this in all media's. No one will take Holly to task until she reaches her full spiral... Diamond was, is and if she leaves this program, all will see... the real deal....

It is the staff that has fallen short. I am a diamond fan because i know her history and have known of her since 11 years old... Put a stallions have to be trained differently than quarter-horses. You realease a QH and constantly push it into performance, the stallion, you reign in until you need its power.

This staff doesn't know how to reign their stallions. All it takes is one Alpha coach. it doesn't even have to be the head coach... one two-hour session with DD is all i would need to turn her around. Make it happen and i will make it happen. All DD needs is a new jockey. Not a new race, not a new track... just a rider that demands she honor their commands.

Local media is on pins and needles concerning this HC. If they go for the jugular on the HC now, then they have big risks if Holly survives somehow. First, they fear being being shut out of acce$$ to the program. Secondly, they are liable to be turned on by the fan$ (ma$$e$) who will see them as "kicking her while she's down" and looking anti-Vol if she recovers the ship.

So what do they do? Sharpen their knives in preparation for the likely firing, but hold out the appearance of support in order to save face later. As soon as Holly resigns or is fired, the knives will come out and she will be utterly destroyed for the masses. Slaughtered like a sacrificial lamb in order to keep the angry masses in their listening and reading fold.

Remember how the local media ki$$ed Lane Kiffin'$ a$$ all the way up until the moment of the night press conference? Kiffin utterly submarined the integrity of UT with his childish tantrums and embarrassments for over a year up to that point. What did local media sound like toward the boy wonder ... crickets! One day after the mattresses burned, LK was trampled utterly and in complete harmony by local media. One even wove the term "Lame Kitten" into his "article".

Remember TFP's Mark Weidmer and his recent full on Brown Nose of CHW and bitter attack on any fans not offering her full support? Mark (pun intended) my words ... if CHW gets the axe in the next few weeks, this sensationalist will be backpedaling to pounce on her failure faster than a unicycle clown at Ringling Brothers Circus.

Never for even one second trust "mainstream media" to inform you with truth and integrity. Their MO has been confirmed so many times that it's silly. They are in the entertainment business to sell us clicks & subscriptions, not to tell truth. Their income and careers depend on it. So don't be confused.

Yep. I think because we are so used to being around the program and being considered a football school, we lose perspective on how much of an impression LVBB has made on the rest of the nation.

Slovin is a fraud. This whole thread is based on his headline. Read my previous posts. There is proof to my statements. If anyone has the video and audio proving Slovin's headlines are correct then post them. I will retract my statement.

Can't post a link but WVLT reported it last nite on their sportscast as well.

If the Lady Vols lose to Georgia and in the first round of the SEC Tournament, Dave Hart is going to have a tough decision on his hands determining whether Warlick returns next season.

Can not fire Holly right now!!!!!!!! If you fire her she would join the law suit. They would say more proof that women are not treated equally. She also could prove more insider info that could damage the program.

Absolutely ridiculous!! The AD cannot let one person hold the program hostage. UT has every right and reason to fire HW, and they should fire her at season's end.

Definitely coaching is part of the problem, but to repeat that old saying, there's no "I" in team-- there seems to quite a few "I's" and not enough playing together as a unit.

A COACH can mold the girls into a unit. Keyword here is COACH.

Define best!
She leads the team in PPG, but has taken more shots than anyone else and has the FIFTH best shooting percentage and has taken 200 more shots than the best shooter and 150 more than the second best shooter while shooting .150 worse.
She takes by far the most three pointers while shooting worse than everyone but Meme who has taken only 14 three point shots.
She has the third most assist on the team while leading by a wide margin in TOs for an assist/TO of a dreadful 0.59

Between her and Cooper, they are taking 41% of the TN shots and 47% of the three pointers while hitting a combined .364/.242 while the rest of the team is shooting .430/.286 not stellar but significantly better. They are responsible for 37% of the turnovers while contributing only 33% of the assist for an A/TO of 0.67 - the rest of the team has an A/TO of 0.84.
They shoot most of the time because others are afraid to do so. If they try to pass a lot of the time it results in a turnover. We fuss about them shooting too much, not shooting and trying to pass which generally results in to's. What do we want? I know I know it would be best if they could put the ball in the hole and then the rest would be ok. Wonder what Kortney's % would be if she played more minutes?

If they hire another woman for a coach - she has no case

I know this is the same thing we said when Meghan was the only one shooting.... If only the coaches would implement a modern offensive scheme..... have the ladies follow it, and not put anyone on the floor who is so handicapped that they are afraid to shoot..... we need all pistons firing.... otherwise it makes it too easy to defend

Coaching, shooting, hell we can't even pass! The only guard that has any, or shown any passing ability is Middleton. Diamond throws the ball away and mopes about it, and watching on defense, then makes a great shot and plays great defense. She is a street ball player, not sure she can ever be coached and harnest into a team player. She should have gone to UConn, Geno would have broken her and made a team player out of her. She has talent but I am afraid too many people have blown smoke up her to harness it to team ball. Carter flat out just isn't that good of a defender, she gets beat to the basket all the time, but for some reason in the back court and beyond the lane she is very good, that is the coaches fault. Reynolds, worst passer ever! Cooper, see Diamond. Russell has improved, but dang our guards suck so she always has a triangle around her. Bash just seems over it. Dunbar looks like her ankle still hurts when she moves, and can't play at the speed. This is not a team, and the players are just as much to blame as the Coaches, personally I now think all of them need to go, save Nared and Middleton and Jackson. The fact they are worse now then when the season started is terrible, the coaches have no excuses for either not kicking trouble off the team, or molding some sort of team effort out of this bunch. They can't even make simple passes to each other, I swear I have seen 12 yr olds play better team ball.

Fire Holly and the staff
Mope-wandering around listlessly and aimlessly because of unhappiness or boredom= Diamond. If she doesn't stop it ask her to leave the school. A best player who doesn't care is a cancer for the next coach

Slovin is considered a quality reporter by peers in his profession..You need to have better info before you post BS....

That's what I'm questioning. Did Matt Slovin make up the "headline" or was there video and audio to support it? The reason I'm asking is because it isn't in the utsports.com presser and Slovin got fired from a previous job for false reporting. Can anyone post a link to the soundbite?

Well of course...That's it..If it's not on UTSports.com then it didn't happen/doesn't exist..SMDH

I hate to bring up the obvious but who was the reporter? MATT SLOVIN of the Tennessean.
-3 jobs since 2012
-Involved in all negative articles in the Tennessean about UT for the last couple of months
-got fired in Michigan and got his newspaper sued for false reporting in 2012
http://s3.amazonaws.com/cdn.getsnwor...ener_claim.pdf

Yes there is disappointment in the results of the team this year but I have serious doubts about the "reporter's" integrity and credibility and you should too.

Check out muckrack.com and search his name. It's an article writers resume. He rarely reports anything other than speculation and his former employer was forced to fire him because of his behavior or face paying a 1,000,000 dollar libel suit.

Ahhh now this explains a bunch..IMHO Posting that you utilize muckrack.com for anything intelligent demonstrates a serious judgement issue..Just because Slovin posts negative articles about UT doesn't make him a fraud..Having 3 jobs since 2012?? What's your point??..Using "air marks" around reporter is juvenile at best and ignorant at worst..Instead of addressing the remarks by Warlick you choose to attack and "attempt"(like the juvenile air quotes?) to defame the reporter..Perhaps a different approach would suit you better..Or maybe not..Who knows..But IMHO a glimpse in the mirror before posting such drivel in the future sure wouldn't hurt.....

Unlikely she transfers and loses another year of eligibiity; if she has aspirations of a pro-career sitting out another year would not help; she could leave school and play in Europe but I am betting that she stays.

Yes, she will stay. Now that's, great mark to leave.

After Stewart leaves, the race for best player is wide open! Diamond still has time, and she knows that, this season didn't go the way expected, the greatest thing about a champion, is getting back up, how do you she and team responds.

And I think she wants to finish it out, it was her dream to be a lady vols and leave her name in the rafters.

Hopefully we get to see that player more going forward.
