If it's purely stats driven, then yes, there is a disconnect. Going by the definition of the award, he certainly seems to fit the bill. If you're a fan of a QB who has bigger numbers, I guess it bothers you. I don't expect Bennett will win. I think it will be Williams. I want a win over OSU then a win in the finals.
88 on their dline could be there as well. But Stetson has a good story and is a swell guy, so there's that.
Duggan probably should win if Hook can't be in the convo. His team is likely to win the NC again. He's a former walk on with pretty good numbers and the leader of a great team.
I don't like Bennett particularly. But I have less problem with him being invited than Hooker not being invited. If I were going to pick a guy for him to replace then the TCU QB would be first and Stroud would actually be second. Point to numbers if you like but he led a super talented team against a relatively weak schedule and lost to the only "great" opponent he played without producing a "Heisman moment".
Well, if you go by the definition of the award: "...recognizes the outstanding the college football player whose performances best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. The winners of the trophy epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work." Bennett certainly meets that definition, If you go by stats, as seems to typically be the case, I think you replace Bennett with Hooker.
One is comparing a specific player position. The other is comparing a team. GA is definitely a better team than Tennessee . Much greater talent gap. But Hooker is the better QB"So sick of UGA fans saying Bennett is a better QB because their team outperformed TN in head to head. That's ridiculous."
Sounds very familiar to all the talk about we beat bama and should be ahead of them....
Well......since Hendon Hooker is STILL on the Heisman ballot, wouldn't it be something if everyone who could voted for HIM to win......wouldn't that be a sight to see in NYC when they call his name as a winner and he's not there........just a thought. Who can start the campaign???
Penix is awesomeHeās a game manager. Georgia would be #1 with literally 10-15 QBās in the country playing in that offense. We sure as hell donāt beat Bama with Bennett and not Hooker. Also, Georgiaās defense is so good that even when he plays bad, they cover him up.
On no planet is Bennett better than any of the finalists and Hooker. Bo Nix and Michael Penix shouldāve been invited over him even. Gosh this a joke.
