If we didn't care we wouldn't watch, go to the games, and talk about the games. If this stuff bothers Scotty I would hate to see what happens to him when people start talking smack to him on the court.

Well, percentages exist so we can make comparisons regardless of number of events. In his prime, Shaq made roughly 60% of his fg attempts, regardless of number.

In fact, we use % as an indicator of the likelihood of an outcome on the next shot. We erroneously do that, but it's a decent proxy. It is absolutely independent, however, of # of trials.

So if McBee takes 31 shots you still think he is going to shoot 42%?

Just about anyone on the team could shoot 9-31. You need to just accept the fact that Hopson has been playing like garbage.

Yes, period. 42% is awful shooting for someone considered a shooter

Maybe a brief read about expected values will help you out a little with the fact that likelihood of making a shot being independent of number of attempts (excluding practice attempts, of course).

I don't think Hopson has had any moments the last 3 games. He certainly has during this season, but I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that Hopson and McBee currently are playing very similar.

Its not Scotty's fault, a lot of the problem with Scotty is the hype he came in with. He was supposed to step right in a be a super star, Bruce along with the recruiting services really hyped him up and lets be honest he has not lived up to the hype and it doesn't look like he is going to be the superstar player he was suppoed to be.

If Hopson gets down because of what some fans say about him on a message board then that just proves the point that he is not mentally capable of handling the game of basketball at this level.

People don't need to be bashing the kid, but some on here get their feelings hurt if someone just states the fact that he isn't playing well right now.

This made less sense than your stupidity about the stats discussion. I'm not sure any of it makes any sense at all, aside from the absurd declaration that you are Foghorn Leghorn. That said, it was equally off the mark.
